I have my pre-approved loan checks in hand…

I am ordering a 2014 BRZ Limited (Wheel locks and Mirror w/ compass and homelink) and 2014 Forester Touring XT (Almost every option including the Eyesight)…

Heuberger Subaru is the dealership that we chose because of their customer service and unbeatable prices. We are really looking forward to getting both of our Subarus delivered.

I saw the EyeSight on STI's website, what exactly is it?

This is a good review of Subaru's Eyesight.

Ah. So basically people will be more confident to text and drive now. Yay!

Congratulations on the purchase(s) by the way!

I am getting my BRZ in Limited trim but not really adding much after that but for the wife I figured that eyesight could only add to the overall safety of the vehicle. It is actually an impressive system. I tested it during a test drive and I must say that it actually works as advertised. It paced the cars in front of us and came to a complete stop when the vehicle in front of us stopped. The XT with 250HP/260TQ is awesome with that paddle shifting CVT transmission.

Thank you! I am definitely a huge fan of Subaru. We were looking at some Audi and BMW vehicles but at the end of the day we just really enjoy the Subaru branded vehicles and the huge savings for what you get.

It came to a complete stop without any input from you? That article you posted had me under the impression that it would do that, but I wasn't sure.

Yep! It actually came to a complete stop without me ever touching the brake peddle. I was a bit nervous but it actually worked quite well. Then after coming to a complete stop you just hit the resume button on the cruise control after the light turns green and it will pace the car in front of you or come back up to your pre-determined speed depending on the circumstances.

Welcome to the future, everyone. Glad we all arrived safely.

This will actually make driving safer for everyone as it will definitely prevent all drivers, non-Eyesight owners or not, from being rear-ended every once in a while. And I'm sure 5 years from now, almost all, if not all cars will have this standard.

I wonder what its limits are though. Like what's the absolute farthest away a car can be where it will still accurately pace it. And what if you're not already pacing a car? Does it look so far ahead of you that it'll actually apply braking if you're running up on a parked car at a red light that you don't see? And what about motorcycle riders? Would it look past a rider to the car in front of them and pace that car, ignoring the rider? Squish.

This also opens the door for GPS guided collision prevention. If all cars had this and transmit/receive GPS capabilities, car wrecks could be almost completely eradicated. Sounds great, and it really is, but that just opens up another door of privacy issues. Whether it happened or not, conspiracy theories would be flying out of every corner of the internet about governments and corporations tracking every aspect of your driving.

See what you did? I could go on a tangent big enough to bring down the FT86Club server.

Some good questions.
Like everything else such as ABS and 'directional control features' that most vehicles have now, one must still use common sense and intelligent driving. Conspiracy theories and GPS tracking is a whole different issue and for other forums (as you have alluded to).

Those are two great cars :) I am digging the new Forester, but it is just too small for our family.

Are you keeping the GT-R too?

Yeah the GT-R will stay in our stable. I just didn't want to rack up the mileage by driving it every day so the BRZ will take on the duties of DD.

Forester order confirmed now just waiting on the new 2014 BRZ info to be released. So far so good.:happy0180:

We sometimes have to deal with value: Value in the experience of driving (more mileage) or the value of reselling (less mileage).

Daily Driver vs Garage Queen vs someplace in the middle. What shall it be, that is the question.

I agree and I feel that I am somewhere in the middle. I want to use the GT-R for the track, drag strip, cruising, and occasional trips to work.

If you factor the cost per mile for a GT-R vs the BRZ you will easily understand my reasoning for purchasing a nice DD like the BRZ.

I see no forseeable reason that I will ever sell my GT-R either so I want it to last.
