Black:
1. That fugly faux carbon fiber "T" pattern from the interior dash panels. 4-5 coats (dont drip) Then either put either Glossifier or Armor-all (the goofy shiny stuff) on the black dip and it will look OEM+. Souce - my car.

2. The Scion badges (front and back if you haven't done it already). Not for Scion-shame but 'cause it looks good. The side '86 badges are optional.

3. Save 1 can of black dip for touch-ups on the wheels, and any small shitty plastic stuff you have that would look better black (garage door openers, faded white plastic junk (like 1st Gen Xbox 360 "white" plastic, etc.)

RED
1. Have no clue

2. Likes to make ordered lists

You know... just because you have the cans doesn't mean you have to use them. DAEMANO's anti fauxbon fiber idea doesn't sound too shabby though.

this is only a photoshop mockup, but i will be doing this some time this week. you can feel free to take the idea. :) TRD bumper inspired.

Give it to me

@indesigns - TRD Bumper idea is hot. @OP - Make it so.

if i love it enough after plastidip i'll probably do vinyl wrap.

aymen23q 08-05-2013 07:29 AM

ill probably vinyl wrap that instead of plastidip

There is no "Faux carbon fiber" anywhere on these cars. Please go educate yourselves on the interlocking T pattern that exists in the plastic, on the vinyl dash trim, in the floor mats, on the front grille, and on the rear diffuser.

I'm fully aware of all the T's. No, it's not really trying to look like carbon fiber, but it's certainly similar to the look.

I sort of agree with Frostyman. On one hand, it is clearly trying to invoke the same "performance" idea as carbon fiber, on the other hand it is simply more interesting to have a pattern instead of a piece of black plastic.

On the other other hand, it is almost perfectly matched with our reverse light, so props to Toyota for sticking with the pattern:

+1 on dipping the dash panel

i used anthracite + pearlizer on mines but i think the matte black one would still look just as good
