DIY - External microphone for Android HU - (T7019A)
 

First of all: buy a quality microphone, mostly Parrot.
Some HU on Android have internal mono microphone and sometimes quality is very poor.
You can buy a stero mic and play it as mono with no problem.

What you need?

2 jack 3,5 female/male
15 cm of audio cable or video cable (positive and ground)
good willing to solder!

WARNING!! Parrot store sells standalone mic, not included the support as you find on ebay as bundle...(the clips). By Parrot store you must buy support clips.

Open you HU.

1. remove only the two screws per side (top panel must be removed - 2 side screws and 1 on back )
2. detach all front panel without unplug any wires (there is enough space to reach pins to desolder and solder again)
3. locate as show positive (red) and ground of internal mic
4. desoldering them

Now take you 15 cm of wire and solder on pins. Point the wire to chassis and the right hole for exit is the "Digital" on back.

Solder the female jack (center on jack is even positive), close HU.

Now solder the male jack to microphone (warn, parrot has double circuit jack, you must remove and solder the mono one). If you do the work with this microphone:

a) join together red and orange wire (are the positive of two micros);
b) ground the two ground together

So, the job is easy and the effort is surprising, the Parrot has a wide angle of caption and no background noise on drive.

@Trap63 thanks a lot for the DIY, I'll be buying the Mic through ebay as it is a lot cheaper due to ridiculous shipping costs for it on the usa store, where did you run the wire for the mic, up one of your pillars and out of the roof infront of the mirror?

Yes, the right side pillar down to speaker and beside instruments panel (it's easy to remove - 2 screws - don't disconnect! ).
In this way you need space for operating to take wire and therefore all front panel must be removed , but the job is fine.
I think may be the same without remove instruments panel and operating down .

@Trap63 So you would need 2 fairly long 3.5mm jacks with a male and female end? Correct?

That's right! you see them in picture. Buy jacks 3,5 mono to solder.
Audio quality confirmed: all can hear me very well!!!!

So I'd need 2 of these right? Just want to make sure it's clear lol.
It doesn't quite all make sense to me but I'm sure once I have everything infront of me and read the DIY it'll make sense :)
