So I got into a fender bender-ish.....
Well last night someone semi-double parked, and I realized I couldn't fit my 98' MPV so I backed up halfway into a empty parking spot adjacent to the double parked car on and....
tink....followed by a half a second of silence, followed by a BAM I get out and what do I see behind my truck... a stealth fighter black motorcycle cover.. with a motorcycle underneath parked horizontally at the end of the spot (and it's not a reserved spot mind you). Thank god I was moving at .005 mph and the impact with the ground probably damaged it more than it with my truck. The damage was 99.999% cosmetic as the bike stopped at about 50degree angle as the curb was supporting it, a couple of scratches on the fender a nick on the exhaust but other than that you would have thought a decent sized rocked simply nicked it, we started it up and everything ran ok so there is no mechanical damage from what I can tell Well lessoned learned.... park front words when you have a shiton of boxes into your trucks trunk  and question, how much do you think the insurance claim and my increase would cost seeing there is NO WAY it would cost more than 3-400$ bucks to replace everything that even came in proximity of the curb? I've never made contact with another object save a curb twice in my 5 years of my driving so I was pretty dumbfounded that I managed to cock up of all nights last night :mad0259: |

If he parked horizontally on the inside... what the hell was he expecting? Back in my street riding days, I'd always try to park roughly horizontally on the outside end. Horizontal enough to be a broad visible object, but diagnal enough so two terrible drivers could park on both sides of me. And at the end so people would see it before being 3/4 into the spot. Glad to know it wasn't too bad and you didn't do a hit and run though. Off topic, are you in the military? I only ask because your avatar looks really tech schooly. |
