The What Do You Look Like/Picture of Yourself Thread
I searched pretty hard and couldn't find anything like this. Please point it out if there is one. Other forums I'm on have this, and I like it.
Few people actually have their own face in their avatar. I don't either, but I feel like it makes members more relatable when you can see who you're talking to. Makes the community seem more real, for lack of a better word. I know a lot of people don't like seeing photos of themselves or have some strange sense of "privacy on the internet" (LOL!), and that's fine. No pressure here. But anyway... Post a photo of yourself, so we can see who we're talking to! No criteria really, but you + your car would be cool. I will start... [...by being hypocritical. I'm at work, so no access to photos. I shall de-hypocrite in a few hours.] |

Yeah, there needs to be like different versions of italics or something to help indicate tone of voice. I've seen many-a arguments break out on the internet between two well-intending people misunderstanding each other just because they were reading and not hearing.
It's particularly inconvenient to me, because I have a double extra dry sense of humor. So I'm constantly saying crazy shit without even realizing just how crazy it might sound to someone reading it. And I hate saying "just kidding" because I think it ruins the joke. Plus, half the time it's way funnier for me if I know people actually think I'm serious. It's the internet, none of this shit matters. Unless it's a forum, where you might need help from the other members, so it's best to keep relations good. |
