More than happy to trade my FR-S gauge cluster if anyone wants to.
I prefer the frs....would be willing to swap. I got a brz limited.
May be more work than it is worth. Believe I read somewhere that the cluster is encrypted with a unique key, and swapping will brick it. Make sure you do the research before swapping for a test.
Anyone attempt yet?
I'll swap one with lower mileage :P

I would have to agree. It would seem with all the digital displays, the odometer would update correctly if they were swapped. Unless that is independent with each cluster. I have a BRZ limited if anyone wants to try a swap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The odometer data is stored in the gauge cluster (combination meter Subaru calls it) so the reading stays with the cluster and if you replace yours it will be wrong. Some vehicles store it in another place as well for fraud detection, but almost all cars I'm aware of these days store it as part of the gauge cluster.
Technically using a different cluster without a official mileage sticker elsewhere on the car is a federal offense... There used to be a place you could send Subaru clusters where they would reprogram the cluster to the correct mileage, not sure if it would work for the BRZ/FR-S ones or not. |
Boom! ^^
