Subaru Australia has announced the availability of a new STI performance package with the introduction of the Subaru BRZ S, adding a number of interior, exterior and suspension upgrades to the rear-wheel-drive sports car.

The pack is priced at $7995 (including fitment) for existing or new owners of six-speed manual BRZs and $7195 those for those with the six-speed automatic transmission.

Comprising components made by Subaru’s performance arm, Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the pack is available for purchase either online for new buyers – with the pack fitted before delivery – or retrofitted by authorised dealers for current owners.

Similar to the package seen on the STI Sports Kit concept that drew crowds at last year’s Sydney motor show, the BRZ S pack includes front, side and rear under-skirts; rear diffuser; black boot lip spoiler; flexible strut tower brace; lower coilover suspension; and black 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside gets treated to a new gearshift lever and gear knob (manual-only) and an engine start button.

While all parts are covered under Subaru’s factory warranty, the Japanese manufacturer says this covers three years and unlimited kilometres when fitted prior to delivery but only two years if fitted by an authorised Subaru retailer after the car has been delivered.

Subaru is also offering first-time options of satellite navigation, rear-view camera, and front and rear parking sensors along with other factory-backed personalisation options of GT stripes, fuel filler cap garnish, carbonfibre-type instrument panel insert, and an STI battery clamp/holder, an STI oil cap and STI valve caps.

Powered by a 147kW/205Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘Boxer’ engine, the Subaru BRZ is priced at $37,150, and includes free servicing for three years or a maximum of 60,000km.

Subaru Australia has also confirmed to CarAdvice that a limited edition of the Subaru WRX will join the local line-up in late September/early October, though details of the final 20th anniversary model are yet to be released.

Am I to understand that gear lever/knob is worth AU$800? What else does the Automatic not get?

Also, you guys down under didn't get sat-nav from the start?

tldr repost

LOL8KYEAHNOTHANKS.

For that price, I could put a fully tuned twin screw supercharger, full exhaust, and coilovers on the car...

infinite012 08-02-2013 01:02 PM

Remember, kids. This is $8000 in upside-down Monopoly money.

$8K AUD would probably translate to ~$6-7K USD if sold here.

Keep in mind all these parts carry a factory warranty, unlike aftermarket warranty-yourself-as-you-go parts.

hmmm yeah...how about....no...

Even assuming this kit would be cheaper in the US, anything over 5k to get your car looking not even drastically better, is not worth it.

For $6-7K only in cosmetic upgrades, I could make my BRZ look like a total badass.

And to the ones saying "warranty", mmm yeah...warranty on a shift knob and a STI badge are not that....useful.

Anyways, disappointing.

It took 37 minutes for someone to say that it was a repost. You guys are slacking.
