Gimmick Motorsports Inlet
Hey everyone!
I was recently chosen by one of our vendors Importimageracing.com to test fit and give my impressions on the new Gimmick Motorsports intake inlet replacement. Removing the OEM inlet and sound tube was a breeze and installing the Gimmick unit was just as easy. Installation took around 15 minutes the first time around. Construction of the inlet was very nice and very feels sturdy once installed. The quality of the silicone is very nice and the branding is a very nice touch. It looks almost completely OEM once installed and if you don't want to keep the branding, you can rub it off. Everything fit nice and snug as it should and provided a noticeable increase in sound from both the engine bay and the cabin. Maintenance would be easy in regards to keeping it clean. A simple wipe down with a microfiber takes care of cleaning it right up and keeping it pristine. Overall drivability remains the same as you can imagine, but the car does certainly feel more willing to accelerate. The butt dyno approves :happy0180: I did some pulls (on a closed course of course ) and the car feels much stronger. She is breathing much more easily now . She passed the burnout test with flying colors, but I didn't get any pics of that lol. Huge thank you to my sponsor Importimageracing.com! They are and have been the best source for any and all Subaru parts. Their staff is extremely knowledgable, friendly and always willing to help fellow enthusiasts. Here is the link to the product page: http://www.importimageracing.com/gim...cion-fr-s.html They are available in Black, Blue and Red!!! My babbling is over now, onto the pics! http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_1484.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_1487.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_1490.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_1506.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_1514.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_1531.jpg |
Hmm.. I wonder if the company's name is indicative of it's product :P

"Much" stronger from an inlet pipe? I'm going to go with the poster above me.

Looks like a complete knock off of AVO's IMO. Never did like the inlets with the sound tube hole still there. Kinda defeats the purpose of switching to an inlet. Perrins is atleast smooth all the way around with out the sound tube to disturb air flow.
Which is one thing I wish SARD would of done on there carbon fiber inlet was to not have a port for the sound generator. Perrins IMO isnt just a L it is a nice curve that looks like it would flow better especially without the sound generator too. Obviously its just speculation as for all we know that smoother curve can do nothing but it definitely makes more sense to have it like that then how AVO and this AVO Clone inlet from "Gimmick" *cough*Knock Off*cough*. Atleast with Perrin you can choose to keep using the inlet tube if you ever decide to upgrade to a CAI as it also works with there CAI. According to them the inlet helps out a little if you have a full headerback system/CAI by a couple whp. Might not be a lot but it cleans up the engine bay either way and cant hurt to get as much power as you can if you stick to NA. They claimed I believe 3-4 WHP using this inlet with their header back and CAI |

Had a turbo inlet for my WRX from Gimmick. Biggest POS ever, completely waste of money and time. NEVER again.

I think people should stop making intake part. Same old silicone hose or cone filter.

Any more opinions on the gimmick. I found it for 80 bucks.

that's the most appropriately named product in history.

Claims the WORKS drop in filter gets rediculous gains and refuses to have it independently dyno'd when other vendors offer to do it. Then claims there mid pipe adds 5-6 WHP when other vendors who are reputable say otherwise. Now for the sake of sales he is trying to talk bad about other vendors inlets saying they are all the same brand when it clearly isnt. Perrins tube looks nothing like the Zeta/AVO/Gimmick. AVO's and Perrins are clearly the 2 that are the safest ones to buy. |
What a load of horse shit.

Out of morbid curiosity I opened the link. I'll save anyone else the trouble, it's $200.
