FULL VIDEO FEATURE | RUNTIME 8 MINUTES [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u3ka_mARXY"]Scion FR-S BRZ Supercharger Belt Change | Explosive Install and Data - YouTube[/ame] The Performance Belt Discussion Lets face it we all need belts. If you are a supercharger or turbocharger owner heat and increased load can slowly degrade belt performance. Just how much? We have no idea and frankly this is a more light hearted thread about swapping belts on your supercharger. Performance Racing Belts: INNOVATE SC: GATES K061015RB VORTECH SC: GATES K060975RB The beauty of these kits is you can get a replacement belt very easy. Walk into a parts store and tell them you are supercharged and you make large amounts of horsepower enough to now defeat mini-vans on the straights. OR Instead if you are a Vortech owner you can tell them you need a belt for a Hyundai Genesis 3.8L V6. If you are an Innovate owner tell the nice parts girl that you are running a Dodge Caliber with a 2.0L Simple as pie. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-3...h150-no/q2.jpg Installation Obviously if you are an Innovate Owner you are going to blow through the install in about 10 minutes as it is as simple as de-tensioning the belt and installing the new one. You are quite lucky to have that luxury. Bad part is the install is so quick you will still be heat soaked afterwards. So you may have to dump some ice on your engine bay to get your power back. While you are doing that... https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-q...Small%2529.jpg Vortech Owners get to experience what I call shop time. Park the car, let it cool off for a few hours and, then loosen about 10 bolts to get the Vortech bracket off. Have a drink invite some friends to help look at the belt routing guide and hold that tensioner while you slip on the belt. You can swap the belt without removing the supercharger. Just need to get everything loose enough to slide the old belt off and the new one in behind the loose pulley by dipstick. Plan for an hour install time. Good thing is by the time you are done you won't be troubled by heatsoak but plan on some Elmo or Unicorn bandaids to mend your cuts. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Y...Small%2529.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-y...h150-no/q4.jpg THE COST TO PLAY Well to get that pretty blue belt it's going to cost you roughly 20-50$ more depending on where you get it. I would love to see a place like @FT-86 SpeedFactory start carrying these unicorns. For now I was able to score the belt shipped from Amazon for $60. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-e...Small%2529.jpg WHY IS IT BETTER: Don't ask silly questions. It is designed for higher RPM application and heat. Or it could be marketing crap. Guess we will never know. But for more info watch the video. WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PUSH THIS ON PEOPLE? The simple answer is I could care less what belt you use. This was a fun project to follow up some very long and tiring one like the DI and SC installs. So give us a break. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-m...h150-no/q1.jpg |
