Friday Night Drags @ PIR 8/2

Hey guys, we Innovaters are gonna test out our cars at PIR this Friday night to see how the supercharger improves things. Me and @NickFRS are definitely going, since he posted it up on Facebook.

Maybe @pdx4tech will take his S/C FR-S to the track, too? Make it the trifecta.

Anyone else down to join us?

m.box.design 07-29-2013 05:22 PM

maybe someone with a stock 6MT can line up with you guys to see how much of a margin there is over stock.

DarrenDriven 07-29-2013 06:00 PM

Hopefully

Lverasky 07-29-2013 07:58 PM

@DarrenDriven how much does it cost to get into PIR on this Friday night if I wanna go?

DarrenDriven 07-29-2013 09:15 PM

$28 to race, $9 to watch.

I think me and my girl will join, and perhaps do one run lol. What do I need to drag out there? Tech inspection and a helmet?

As far as I remember yes that's it... and engine mounts that won't snap like my last car!

stockysnail 07-30-2013 12:03 PM

Are we able to park in the grass inside the raceway or do we have to park outside the front gates? If not dragging our cars that is.

DarrenDriven 07-30-2013 12:42 PM

You should be able to park in the parking lot... or down anywhere near the grandstands.

Thatruth2001 07-30-2013 04:55 PM

Interesting. Maybe I will bring out the car with the electric supercharger fitted. . . but I might opt to wait for a tune. Got selected to do some sea level testing. I think this is the comparison everyone is looking for in the thread. . . .

PIR is sea level...

Maybe I'll have the car, but likely not. It's being worked on at PRE. Lots of changes coming.
Either way.. I'll be there to spectate.

I've only raced my STi there once. Basically you can have no loose objects in the car and they do a hood inspection. If you run past a certain time then you have to wear a helmet. I think it's if your faster then 14 seconds. Someones needs to correct me on that!

tech4pdx 07-31-2013 07:21 PM

There is a document published on the PIR website that clearly defines the rules. I was reading it the other day.

thehapaone 07-31-2013 07:33 PM

I'm down to come watch car is too stock and I'm a terrible driver still readjusting to manual

tech4pdx 07-31-2013 08:06 PM

Stock car is the best car to run!! I wish I had that baseline at PIR before I started upgrading. Everything is slow, because there will always be someone faster. :D

Yeah true, I'm just not confident with my shifting to actually drag yet been driving an automatic for 5 years since my last manual

tech4pdx 07-31-2013 08:13 PM

You should get a brzedit tune from Bobby at PRE. He can turn on launch control and flat foot shifting which might make it easier for you to run it down the quarter and give you more confidence! :D

Silverstar 08-01-2013 12:10 AM

I might be there. What time do gates open?

Hehe... why do I bother posting links? (twice!)

Gates open at 5:30

BRZPDX 08-01-2013 03:41 AM

so what time are you guys dragging your car? Not sure if I want to be there for like 3 hours so I'll show up later when you guys are ready, and temps go down?

tech4pdx 08-02-2013 06:18 PM

Guesses on trap speed for the Darren and Nick Innovate cars?? This should be interesting.

Also, let us know if you intend on making use of launch control and FFS in your brzedit tuned machines..

DarrenDriven 08-02-2013 07:48 PM

I'm heading there from my house at about 5:30. Should get to the track around 6.

:w00t:

I get off at 6pm today..then will go straight, probably be there around 7PM...

question.. I've never been to PIR before? are we parking the cars outside or inside????

digital_assassin 08-02-2013 08:22 PM

My subframe is hanging from my car so no go for me tonight. It shifted while putting in the Whiteline bushings so I get to spend some quality time under the car tonight doing the forward half. Spent 3 hours on the 2 rears due to alignment issues.

Note to others - don't use a floor jack to support the subfame when installing these bushings, it will likely move.

Someone needs to get video so I can at least watch how the cars ran.

No timeslips? I am disappoint.

DarrenDriven 08-12-2013 02:53 PM

I left from the track and drove straight to the coast, then from there straight to Central Oregon for a week of whitewater rafting. I just got home late last night for the first time since I visited the track!

Went to the track recently and raced @NickFRS in the quarter mile. My best (near lane) was a 14.269 with the SC on stock 215/45-17s stretched onto my 17x9.0 wheels, while Nick (far lane) earned a 14.039@100.59.
