Removing rear 'toyota' logo.

Question. I'm thinking about taking off the 'Toyota' word badge on the rear of the car.

Does anyone know if this is bolted on or is it just that double sided adhesive that you can get off with a blowdrier and fishing line?

I've heard it's only adhesive for the Toyota text. Haven't heard of the blow dryer technique, let me know how it goes :)

thats exactly how I took it off wise. there no holes or studs just adhesive. dont get impatient and try to pry it off as you damage the paint.

I can confirm it's just adhesive tape. I'm very keen to do this too, just haven't worked up the courage just yet!

With a hair drier?

It totally works. That's how I took the stock badges off my Supra.

With a hair drier?

Yeah with hair dryer and fishing line. Probably wouldn't need the hair dryer if it was a hot summer day

what product do you use to remove the residue tape?

ZZT86 07-29-2013 07:36 AM

Use hairdryer to soften the end you want to slowly lift off first & continue pointing dryer at the same end whist lifting, it comes off pretty easy. Then use wax & grease remover to clean up. Polish & protect after, depending on what's on your car.

Nicer, looks less cluttered, shows cars style off more . . . those Euro plates are huge :/

I wish Toyota Australia had put decent badges on like the UK. I would be really nice for people to know what it is rather than them asking "Is that the new Celica" or "What is it?" and have them confused when you say it is an 86.

kajun 08-23-2013 03:22 AM

@Xauterus, from September the MY14 build cars will have the GT86 badge (possibly only for GTS spec, confusingly enough). That said, people have to get used to seeing them around, a badge isn't going to solve it :P

Yes, me too. I'm the opposite to some. I'd like a GTS86 badge. I had a white Celica beforehand and they think it's a similar model.
