Gas pump auto stop did not work O_o
Yesterday I was filling the car up. I was walking around the car taking the opportunity to wash the windows when I came around the corner to find gas squirting out of the fill and running down the side of my car. I can't tell you how much was spilled, but would guess that it was almost a gallon. Annoyed I told the gas station clerk about the pump, then drove home.
I quickly grabbed the hose and gave the car a heavy rinse in the back corner for a few minutes, but took a sniff and it still stank of gas. By this time it's starting to rain, but the car clearly needs washed. So there I was, in now a down pour, washing the car. At least I didn't have to dry it... :mad0260: |
Spilling gas on the car sucks, luckily it was raining! I usually have a spare bottle of water and some shop towels in the car to rinse off the area when that happens.

This is a common issue with us motorcycle guys. Just wash the car with dish soap to strip the wax and re-wax the car.
But I could again, motorcycle paint I am sure is slightly different than car paint. |
I would've burst into the store, grabbed the biggest water bottle I saw, then ran back outside and poured it all over the area. Then I would've walked back inside and paid for and explained why I just stole a bottle of water. Surely gasoline isn't the best for clearcoats, and letting it air dry wouldn't help.

It's always something I worry about in the back of my head. That the auto shutoff won't do its job. I've encountered a lot of stations that remove the stop as well. However, that just results in people sticking their fuel cap in there.

ive run into some old gas stations where the pump barely fits into the brz. gotta guess how much to put it before it starts spewing out.
