Scion Commercial, Cool photo blog from someone on set
Found this page, I searched and didn't see any postings of this yet.
A blog from someone on the set of the FR-S gushi Commercial http://fatlace.com/life/loud-on-the-...-s-commercial/ Few things to note when you look through the pics: -The FRS shown is on TRD prototype lowering springs -That small toyota trapezoidal logo is EVERYWHERE -The FRS front looks clean as hell compared to the BRZ -Look at one of the last pics, the nighttime one, it's hard to tell with the white balance, but the projectors have a color temp. suspiciously like HIDS , It's really hard to tell though, some amber bulbs are more yellow, others are more orange, that's my only reference for (whiteness). |
Nice find! Interesting, the FR-S they used had the 1st ever TRD lowering spring prototypes.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3432 Supposedly they are TRD springs but I don't know if thats been confirmed. I don't get why it was even mentioned about the stupid trapzoid thing in the interior like it was a secret logo...doesn't even look like a T to me. Will have to disagree with the front being cleaner compared to BRZ especially with those crappy headlights and no HIDs, just the reflection of the light on the camera. |
But this blog has a behind-the-scenes narrative on the shoot (unless the same blog link was already posted in that other thread?). Thread-worthy, I say.

Eeww! The car looks so ugly and weird, when it's lowered.

No proper side shots to see what it looks like lowered...

^ Woops. I like it on the lowering springs but the wheels are so far in laterally from the fenders it does look odd. Wish the wheels were more flush with the outside edge of the fender. Also that red seems to show as different shades of red depending on the pic/video. Some look amazing, some look bad.

^Exactly! I mean its nearest competitors 370Z, Miata, and Gen Coupe aren't perfectly flush but they're passable.
http://www.lincah.com/wp-content/upl...rear-angle.jpg http://mx5-miata.net/wp-content/uplo...Generation.jpg http://www.autoevolution.com/images/...os-40357_1.jpg There's a point where sunken in becomes ugly and unfortunately that point has been reached on the FR-S. A mere 15mm makes a world of difference! |
Nice post!
the mountain they filmed this really is a cycling sweet spot, I've only rode it once since I live on the other side of the bay, but it feels pretty special that the FR-S was filmed in such a location. It's a really sweet place to drift I would I think, cornering down the switchbacks here on my bike was so fun, but some corners lack guardrails! |
^Hey Veloist, is your avatar with the 86 rear shot from GT5? Do you have the full-res version somewhere?
