There's a plug in the headliner that can be pulled down and plugged into the mirror. There are a few DIYs on the forum on this.

And it just has a small LCD on the corner that reads direction? That is it's only function correct?

It's wider/bigger than stock, auto dims, and has the compass.

No wire harness needed. Required plug is in your headliner.
