Saw this on the scion instagram. What do you guys think?

*EDIT: Look closely at the FR-S headlights.

Meh. I'd like to think so too, but I feel like it is wishful thinking. Hope somebody steers me wrong.

Interesting. I thought the only way they were putting the HID's on it was with the release series. Wonder if they'd let us with the 1st gen's buy them that way?

I installed my HID's in about 20 minutes, best $90 I've put into the car

Yes it's very easy, plug n play. I think OP meant LED's DRLS. HID's are one of the simplest modifications now a days compared to the late 90's.

I am still surprised at the number of people who "have to have" the 86/10 series headlights.

^ it aint the same brotha. There are HID projectors which will produce less glare, better spread and have built in high beams.

I understand. I've just always had good experience with aftermarket HID ballasts in Toyota projectors, no blinding, good beam... No one was any the wiser.

I do know what you're saying though.

Im not talking about just any HID's. Im talking about the JDM,EUDM,GT86,Series 10 HID's with the LED strip that all us Scion owners would kill for.

yes, like I said. And no, I don't want them, not a fan of the LED strip. Maybe if it was a Ferrari or Audi, but not my Toyota.

I do know what you're saying though.

Anytime you put HID's kits in headlight housings not meant for HID's YES even headlights with projectors specifically meant for Halogens it's illegal and still blinding/distracting. If you got to have HID's do it right and get a retrofit kit, dont cheap out.

retrosmiths 07-22-2013 07:21 PM

I'd like to chime in. The post above is true. Don't just put HID bulbs in your stock headlights. It's bad. The cutoff is horrible. There's a lot of glare for oncoming drivers.

Now, I'm looking to mod the stock projectors though and make the cutoff better, or retrofit an FX-R.

Oh, and if you're looking at my signature, the purple thing is the cutoff color band, not the actual color of the light output. So, bite me.
