What kind of power to expect?
I'm seeing all sorts of different numbers coming out, some lower, some higher. I want my car to have at least 275whp... Here's what I'm about to purchase: innovate sc intercooled, 700cc injectors, headers,fx300 clutch, and maybe a cat back. Is this realistic for my goals, or do I need more?

Fp, op, fuel pump, probably ic or meth, smaller pully.

you need a turbo if 275whp is your bottom end limit.

If you want to get to that number with a twin screw look at Robispec's set up (or give him a call). He is there right now (255 whp on a low reading Dyno Dynamics) but he is using: E85 Smaller pulley (9-10 psi) Header Full exhaust |
If you are looking 275whp minimum on pump gasoline a turbo system would suit your needs much better.

Like many have said and will say, if big numbers are your thing, go turbo. None of the supercharger kits can compete with the sheer power output of a turbo and a halfway decent tuner.

There is no one right answer as far as forced induction solutions are concerned. The best option is the one that meets your wants and requirements. |

won't stop me from trying! :D |
I'm a little worried about overheating with a turbo... Superchargers seem to be the safer route on these cars. Almost every video I've seen of turbo FRS, has ended with the car overheating after a few laps. This is going to be my daily, so reliability is a major concern. I think I'll just get the fuel pump as well and hope for at least 250whp. Kind of sad that 10k invested isn't even going to reach 300. I put 5k into my gsx, and it was a monster. Should of bought the evo :/

From what I'm seeing, on 91 octane the turbos are very close to the superchargers. On 93 and particularly E85, the gap widens.
With a turbo, a koyo radiator and a 25 row oil cooler, my car will still get hot in traffic, but so far I have not overheated. It survived the drive out to Vegas in 110+ degrees. |
You would likely need E85, intercooler, smaller pulley and a full exhaust to get 275whp and that is a maybe. I think Robi had somewhere around 260 on E85 which are the highest numbers for an innovate kit thus far. Moto-East had 250 on E85 with a stock header (plan to re-dyno with JDL soon). I think it's achievable but you might want to lower your expectations if you plan on the innovate route. It drives great at 237whp. I wanted the same but I can live with what I have. I hope to squeeze out another 20whp or so but we'll see. I just needed more power between turns and usable torque on exit, mission accomplished.

interestingly my oil temps haven't gone up at all since i added the turbo, but then i haven't been to the track yet. i'm sure it'll overheat when pushed hard enough. |
