Aftermarket gauge placement

Where do you guys say is a good place in the interior to put aftermarket gauges?

The TRD 86 has them where the radio is. But I don't think some of us will take the radio out just to put gauges in.

one of my sponsors is actually going to make a 3 gauge pod....just have to wait till he gets ahold of one so he could start working on it...

i'd prefer gauges to be as inconspicuous as possible

I like the ones that kind of blend in with the center console vents

^ me too dude

A pillar column pods look weird most of the time.
And this car doesn't have room down by the console (below the air cond. switches) for a clean look.
Steering wheel column pods look cheap.

I think the only way to get the best look is to get rid of the radio and buy an aftermarket headunit. But even then it doesn't look that clean as compared to JUST 3 gauges without the headunit.

Hmm I had this idea, either take out the radio or adapt the screen for use with a smartphone/tablet, and have your phone connect to the OBDII via bluetooth, and it'll be able to display a bunch of these parameters :D

Not sure if OBDII has oil pressure though.

ARK MFD gauge located in the cluster so the top right corner aligns (and covers) the digital speedo it should fit without crowding the temp and gas needles

CyberFormula 03-16-2012 05:19 PM

i'm not sure the MFD has a peak/warning function...

In theory at least, it might be possible to do this with the BeSpoke. It is bluetooth and you can develop apps for it. Basically, turn the BeSpoke into a MFD that shows the readouts as gauges. This is pretty common in glass ****pits in aircraft.

it wouldn't be good for much if it didn't have peak and warning function, a quick search netted this...you don't even need to read the text the pictures will make it pretty clear...

I'd prefer a placement similar to my current setup, which are molded into the gauge cluster bezel, not in mounted pods or on the steering column:

Nice! I'll take one....what will you charge me. :D

i wouldn't mind a gauge pod as long as it blended in well.
The best solution could be to just get a carputer, i believe some of them can actually show you stats?

Turbowned 03-17-2012 04:19 PM

I wonder if it can be built into the nav screen... that would be the best placement
