Citroen is unleashing a hot new version of its DS3 hatchback at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show--the limited edition 200 horsepower DS3 Racing. Developed by the French automaker’s racing division--the winning team behind five WRC manufacturer’s titles and six driver’s titles--the DS3 Racing is sure to make MINI Cooper S and Polo GTI owners just a little nervous.

The DS3 Racing will be limited to just 1,000 units and sadly the model remains strictly off-limits for American buyers.

With integrated carbon-fiber elements and racing-inspired equipment, the DS3 Racing’s tuned and turbocharged 1.6-liter ‘THP 150’ engine develops 200 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque--up 30 percent and 15 percent respectively over the standard DS3. To achieve the additional output, engineers added strengthen internals to the engine, increased boost pressure of the turbo, remapped the ECU and added a new exhaust.

The rest of the chassis was uprated as well, with a modified steering system, stiffer springs and wider tires all making the cut. Ventilated and cross-drilled brakes were added, as was a set of 18 inch wheels.

Inside the cabin there’s carbon-fiber trim, bright orange decals and sporty bucket seats embossed with the Citroen Racing logo.

Also on show in Geneva will be the DS High Rider concept, previewing a bigger DS4 hatchback model due to go on sale in Europe towards the end of the year.

Strictly off limits? Hahahaha, makes it sound like the company is like "NO!! WE WILL NOT SELL TO AMERICAN POOP MONGERS!"

Damn Frenchies.

^Word. It is a pretty cool looking little car though... Perhaps too cool for us unfashionable Americans.

not a big fan of the interior layout. The colors are one thing, but the layout of everything in the interior looks too 'common'. There's nothing special, or sporty, about that layout.

Steering wheel design and steering wheel emblem put aside, just completely take them outta the picture...what are you driving? a New Corolla? new Civic? new yaris? new focus?etc. etc. etc. (I mean, I know each company has a distinctive taste, but you have to just look at it more broadly). Very bland.

You hear me FRENCH AUTOMAKERS?!!?!! ITS A VERY BLAAAANNDD INTERIOR! /patooey

I'd rather have the Clio Sport V6.

And a LONG time ago Renault tried their hand at importing cars to the U.S., and just couldn't cut it. I think my grandmother had a Renault back in the early 80's late 70's.

Peugeot is another French automaker that just didn't make it. We actually owned a Peugeot stationwagon back in the early 90's. Lol, since there wasn't a Peugeot dealership around anymore (they withdrew from the U.S. in '91) when things started going bad, there was nothing to do. Eventually pushing it down the hill near our house to start it was offset by the thing overheating.

Good memories of that car.:bellyroll:
