Edmunds place holder spot reserved for BRZ Vert...
http://www.edmunds.com/subaru/brz/2014/?sub=convertible
Very interesting that they have a place holder for this upcoming car. I thought the FRS was the only confirmed vert... I can't wait to see how this roadster is going to handle. I hope it's a pull up/no motor soft top. It would save on cost, weight and eventual need of repair/service. http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/first...rz-convertible |
lmao @ that road and track picture. What seats are those? They just photoshopped some other interior onto a BRZ body. Realistically, the drop top would probably be a 2 seater 'cause of the folding top.

if i was told right by someone high up in toyota that they werent doing a soft top 0.0

The cost of a folding hard top would put the vert into the $40k+ range, not likely to happen for the "affordable sports car" that they designed.

I do not like convertible sports cars. Too much added weight and reduced structural integrity. I don't even like sun roofs. Plus it will take away from the overall good lines on this car. Like the 350Z vert, that thing looks hideous (to me).

Funny, the Edmunds page says it will have side curtain airbags on a convertible....

However in this case, making a convertible will be guaranteed to make someone angry: if they have to add a bunch of structural aids, then the weight will go up, and performance will be even worse than the hardtops. If they designed the car from the get-go as a drophead, then that means that the hardtops are heavier than they really need to be. Lose-lose situation. |
