No shine tire shine?
Hopefully you know what I mean - I use a spray off tire/wheel cleaner and as a finisher I'm looking for something to give a nice clean new tire look without the over-shine from the normal armor-all type stuff.
Looking for something relatively inexpensive that I can pickup at Walmart, auto parts store etc. not looking to buy some random exotic $40 /bottle stuff. Suggestions? |
You want your tires to be black without the gloss, right? Me too. Anyone?

I like to use 303 Aerospace Protectant on my tires. It produces a nice, clean, matte look. It works well for other plastic trim, too. Like the diffuser part on the rear bumper and the cowl near the windshield.

Don't you know that shinier means better?
But seriously, why bother with a cleaner? Just wipe down with water and a mild soap and you will get the look you want. If you want it flatter than that, fine-grit sandpaper will do the trick . |
Bleche-wite. It's a cleaner - not a shine - and works wonderfully. Aside from that, buy a "satin" or "natural" look tire shine from the big box store and apply it with a microfiber cloth; it'll cut down on excess and provide a more even look.

I've found the No Touch tire foam sold at walmart is pretty good. It leaves behind a very satin clean look that won't make your tire look greasy or oily at all. It's slightly shinier than a brand new tire with nothing on it but it's an easy way for me to dress the tires and wheel wells.

303 aerospace, most boating stores. its the good stuff, dilute with water for very flat finish.

Adam's VRT leaves a dark rubber color without super shine.

:laughabove: Yep, Adam's VRT. You will not be disappointed. www.adamspolishes.com

I love 303. I use it on tires, the fender well, plastic trim...

+1 for Adam's VRT. The FRS didn't really need it cause it's so new. But boy did it work wonders on all the black trim pieces on our 2006 Legacy. It leaves a clean, matte look and is water based so no greasy nastiness lol.
