Considering going from 18x8.5ft/18x9.5back to 18x9.5 squared what to expect??
 

So this is a few questions to some folks that are running 18x9.5" squared setups...

As I am considering going from 18x8.5" front and 18x9.5" back to 18x9.5" squared.

1.) should I expect the front steering to feel "considerably" heavier and sluggish?

2.) is it far less practical when considering autocross in future?

3.) anyone that's gone this wide squared have any regrets or go back to staggered or smaller wheels?


Btw current setup is rota rt5 18x8.5 and 18x9.5

Considering going to TE37 SLs...squared 18x9.5"

Staggered set-up or wheels wider than 9" (for classing reasons) doesn't make sense for autoX.

If you're just looking for a good functional set-up there's no need for a stagger. Get as much grip in the front as possible.

Ill be honest went staggered for looks and I'm a sucker for the dish look. I suppose my interest was just how much having 9.5 inches all way around would affect overall feel and abilities of the car? Want the look but if things in general get too boggy feeling ill avoid it. If I was serious about auto cross events I suppose I'd go 17s actually squared and go light on the whole car, but reality is that I may "try" autocross / time attack events as quite local to me they exist... But again 99% time is street driving really.

The steering will feel heavier, but it won't be less responsive. I like the heavier steering I get with my 9" wheels and 255/40/17 sticky rubber. I have two sets of square 17x9s for my car, I would run 17x9.5s but for my class 9" is the max wheel width.

If you're looking for a good mix of performance and style get the 18x9.5 square with a 245/35 or 255/35 tires depending on how low you are. But that's just MY opinion.
