Vortech vs. Innovate Acceleration Comparison Video
AMBIENT TEMP: 91 Degrees

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me82ujuNEb4"]Scion FR-S BRZ Supercharger Acceleration Test 2 | Vortech vs. Innovate - YouTube[/ame]

DYNOJET WHEEL HORSEPOWER:
INNOVATE BASE TUNE: 213HP 171TQ
VORTECH BASE TUNE: 212HP 176TQ

The Vortech Kit was set to it's lowest horsepower map for fair comparison

Comparing different dyno results have become an almost worthless exercise, too much variation. Take them with a grain of salt.

Base Impressions:

After comparing about 6 different video showing various acceleration in these base maps the kits like it or not are nearly identical in terms of outright acceleration, despite the way they deliver power.

The real difference will be in tuning and who is tuning the car.

The other differences thus far is that the Vortech kit has plenty of overhead, due to intercooling.
Power and consistency have also been gauged including problems the community is working on correcting.

The Innovate is on the ground floor with a very small and soon to be over worked tuner base.
It does have a clear advantage in install times, simplicity and much better sound.

So, only time will tell how both kits hold up and what bugs are found.
But one thing is for sure, as history has shown, don't be manipulated by tuners high HP dynos they keep plastering up.
There is a lot more to it than that in the real world. (Applies to both kits)

(Thanks to sw20kosh for footage and all of those who provided me videos and logs from their kits and tuners)

So buy the cheaper one?

This digital racing thing is a GREAT idea. Thanks for doing that.

I won't have that answer until I get the Innovate kit installed.
As of right now I don't have a objective answer.

The subjective answer, based on what I have seen if you are ok with this base power level, the Innovate kit makes sense.

If you want more power the Vortech kit is better as I can switch maps in two seconds and have a much faster car and not have to worry about heat issues due to inter cooling and accurate ways to measure intake air temps.

Its a more real way to compare how these cars accelerate on the street.

There will be a vortech pulley/injector/fuel pump upgrade out soon good for ~300whp and ~200ft/lb

Also, ignoring the upgrade, there are people getting to those numbers with a header + tune

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41285

If I had to buy everything again, I would get the innovate BUT only if I stayed stock as far as Innovate non/aftercooled and Vortech no header/no pulley upgrade... but I do not in any way regret buying the vortech, especially since 300whp is just a header or pulley upgrade away.

^^ upgrade, plus header and tune :D

Yeah it just depends on what your goals are.
Base vs. base the argument becomes intercooled vs. non-intercooled

Base map for base map and just bolting on the kits is going to be preference. Once you start fine tuning with other mods than the Vortech kit will kill the Innovate hands down. Even with intercooler, e85, pulley upgrade and a header I don't see the Innovate making more power than the Vortech unit. The Vortech unit is knocking on the door off 300hp right now with the same 9psi, tune, header and full exhaust.

Yeah and that's true, but I wanted to try and show an apples to apples video as much as possible. But clearly I can go switch the MAP in 2 seconds and make 30HP more than the Innovate kit. But that then becomes a tuning comparison.

In reference to the power, Above 5.8K, yes. The Vortech has got it, but Below 5.8K, not so much...

A much better comparison, both kits (latest version of the Vortech production kit, off the shelf Innovate kit. Same tuner, same dyno.

Good to see the numbers, that way. What tuner, what dyno, etc?
Numbers at the end of the day are only part of the story.
