Can I run in Autocross events without being timed?

If I have no interest in competing in the events and simply want to practice my driving skills can I ask the organizers to simply not record an offical time for me?

I don't want to run the risk of being accused of driving in a "timed event" if I really don't care about standings etc....

The way timing is run it would honestly be a PITA to not time someone. Basically, every time someone drives through the start lights, it starts a timer, and then when they drive through the finish it stops the timer. Every once in a while you'll see someone walk through one or the other and it causes a big fuss while they get the times fixed.

I would suggest just using a false name, and car description if you think its necessary. When you register explain your concerns and I'm sure they'll work it out. It's more fun to see your times anyway. All 3 of the regions I run in have Facebook groups and/or forums. See if your region does and ask them there.

Thanks, I don't want to cause an issue so I'll just use a false name and description if they will let me. Not trying to create issues.

You dont have to be competitive, drive how you want and give no fucks about your time...your still gunna have to register/pay. But I think you will find your self gaining a few tenths and knowing there is more time to be had....there for driving faster and comparing your own FTD to each of your runs.

I'm sure using the false info will be no issue. You should see some of the stuff that comes up on ours...

@brillo, are you afraid of possibly being denied warranty claims in the future?

Ah, okay. My older brother used to do that back in 2005 when he bought his first new Evo. He had heard stories of Mitsubishi denying warranty claims on people that went to autox. He eventually stopped worrying/caring when he really got into autox. The same might happen to you.

Another reason why I am starting to wish I would have bought the car when it was cheaper and didn't have any factory warranty left LOL
