BeSpoke trade in program

I want to see if enough of us say something that Scion will have to help out. I know for me I purchased BeSpoke to use it as a Nav device with my iphone. They didnt know it wouldnt work with the iPhone 5. I feel that they should either just have a fair trade program, we paid $845 for our upgrade and the new units I've seen you upgrade for $545. Or at least have a very fair trade in value so we have the opportunity to get what we wanted out of a head unit.

What do you guys say Yes or No?

Do you have any idea how corporations work?

No but I do feel that they should stand behind their products and help keep customers who are paying hundreds of dollars semi happy.

Blame Apple, not Scion. Apple has a history of pulling things like this...

I'm pretty sure the iphone app is a nice to have and since it's free it's not something you 'paid' for. Bespoke does exactly what it's suppose to do with/without the iphone app. Now if the functionality was dependent on the app and the app didn't work, that would be a different story.

If you're saying you bought bespoke contingent on there being an phone app, then I would say that is a consumer mistake on your part.

It doesnt do the Nav without the app...

There are bait and switch issues at play actually. IANAL but you could reasonably assume that scion would maintain any apps needed for the operation of the unit, now that there's a whole new unit and support is been abandoned completely there needs to be some sort of redress.

More specifically, the headunit needs an iPhone 4s or earlier in order for Pandora or the navigation app to work. Toyota/Scion aren't supporting the new iPhone 5 platform nor working to expand their app into different smartphone environments. This can be seen as some sort of breach of faith that the headlining would continue to work for for the reasonable life of the car, or at least for the duration of a normal warranty period.

Even more specifically than that, I'm not sure that the iOS limitation of the headunit were ever fully explained during the sales process.

Not a Bespoke owner so I'm a bit confused on this issue - did Scion/Bespoke advertise the device as working with the Apple iPhone 5 (or all current + future iPhones) and then fail to deliver? If not, then there's no bait and switch here. It is unreasonable to expect a company to be responsible for keeping its product up to date with every new product from another company that breaks compatibility unless they specifically committed to that as one of their features.

So, to clear up any confusion - did they commit to iPhone 5 (and beyond) and reneg?

jybrd 07-17-2013 10:04 PM

Heard back from Scion, they basically said it really isnt their problem its more the dealerships issue. Thats Bull if you ask me but i guess I dont know how corps. work :/

FR-S Matt 07-17-2013 10:16 PM

Even with my iPhone 4S, I don't really use it. Meh.

I feel this post is what's wrong with America. It's an entitlement issue and I can't stand that. I really don't mean to offend but, you bought what you bought. Too bad so sad there is something new and better out. And cheaper to boot. That's life. Get over it. No way no how would I give you anything for voluntarily purchasing something that you thought had value and then complaining about it. There will always be something bigger and better.
