what upgraded pads are you guys running?
 

Looking at getting some after market brake pads since i need some more stopping power.Mind you I have a set of pads already for the track which are wayyy too loud for daily driving and i want another set for street/spirited driving. I already upgraded the lines to goodridge lines and have flushed the system with rbf600. So in regards to my question please answer these as well as these are main concerns of mine:

What pads are you using?


How is it compared to OE?


How much noise? Quiet like OE? Some squealing? None at all?

How much brake dust?

How long are they "supposed" to last and how are they in terms of wear on your rotors?

I bedded mine properly but the rears sequel a little (carbotech xp-10s).

The dust, well my silver wheels are gunmetal pretty quickly.

i want to keep those for the track and they were bedded properly as per instructions stated to. i want to have a set of street pads for my daily/spirited driving. i don't mind coughing up the money. i'm weird like that

What track pads? You can avoid re-bedding if you get a compatible pad :)

I was asked not to mention them since they have not yet been released to the public. But I know there are brands like endless, stop tech, project mu etc. just trying to figure out my options and which to go with with daily and spirited driving with minimal noise and dust and are easy on the rotors annnnd are better than oem

What pads are you using? - Ferodo DS2500's


How is it compared to OE? - More bite than stock, WAY better fade resistance on a track.


How much noise? - Mine squeak sometimes when cold and rarely when hot, but it's very quiet and to be honest the stock pads were worse after overheating them a couple times :D

How much brake dust? - More than stock, but nothing I would call offensive. It does need to be washed off with more than just a hose though. It comes off easily with a brush/sponge/etc.

How long are they "supposed" to last and how are they in terms of wear on your rotors? - No idea how long they're supposed to last, no visible wear on any of the rotors yet and they've been on the car for over a month now with daily and hard driving.

He's being generous about the dust. They dust like a mother, but that's to be expected and it is on the light side.

How is it compared to OE? Much better initial bite, far superior fade resistance.

We'll be group buying these if there's enough interest, but we're talking like 20+ people...

Otherwise, these are no longer being imported to North America by the manufacturer.

I have DS2500's on the way, will be doing a track session next week at High Plains. I will follow up with my impressions afterward. Wparson's impressions above echo exactly what I'm expecting, and exactly what I've experienced from DS2500's on previous cars, an 04 STi and 06 Evo MR. They were a full time street/track pad and performed exceptionally well. Doing 3-4 track days per year I estimate they'd last at least 18-24 months. The STi was stolen after 12 months of pad use, and the Evo was sold before the pads wore out, plenty of life left at 18mo, if that's an indicator of life. The dust is definitely sticky, so if the wheels are protected and cleaned more frequently, the dust should come off somewhat easily.
