I figure I PAID for MY car. It's in MY name. I can do whatever the FUDGE I want to do to it.

Just so guys know, the reason it illegal to rebadge a car to a different make is because it looks criminal to law enforcement.
Let's just say you commit a crime and witnesses say your in a tan 4 door Ferrari. It's just like if you have blue LEDs or lights on your car you can get a ticket for impersonating a police officer. Cuz that guys 95 civic with Blu under glow looks just like a highway patrol car. Luckily I live in Mississippi, so I don't have to worry about much street legal mumbo jumbo. I'm pretty sure I could ride around in R34 skyline and claim its a 240 and get away with it. |
That funny, my dad told me about this coworkers son that has a FRS with Toyota badges and he got pulled over for it. I would say it all depends on the cop. But hey, our engine bay does say toyota haha

And yes. It is absolutely up to the cop. And I would think you could get out of any associated fines by changing the badges back. |
It should be illegal to stick a Lamborghini badge on an Altima. The charge should be criminal stupidity. I'd be willing to bet that a person who stuck that badge on a Nissan did not get pulled over because the cop was a Lambo fan and was wondering what model it was.

I can see why rebadging would be illegal, but I'd never heard of it before. Makes me want to buy the most haggard Geo Metro I can find, badge it as a Koenigsegg, then drive around a lot. |
Cant agree any more..

I don't think it would be a problem putting Toyota emblems on the FR-S.
If for some reason you would get a ticket I personally think the Judge would throw the ticket out and not fine you in any state. Really lets look at this emblem vs car thing. 1 - is it a Scion..?? 2 - is it a Toyota..?? 3 - is it a Subaru..?? This is on Scion's website: 2013 Scion, a marque of Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Scion is a registered trademark of Toyota Motor Corporation. But wait a minute unlike my other Toyota/Scion cars there's nothing on the door identification sticker saying the FR-S is made by Toyota or Scion it states the car is made by Fuji Heavy Industries. My point is there's to many legal loopholes you can use get out of the ticket. |

I don't know about other states but i know it's fine in Cali, which is y i put Subaru Badges on my FR-S lol. I prefer the look of the Subaru badges over the look of the Scion or Toyota badges.
