Why I am happy I bought cheaper rims...

This.

Pretty sure this happened at the dealership a few days ago since I literally haven't driven my car other than once since then. But good luck proving it. At least the wheels are cheap.

Do they have blue curbs at the dealer?

yoshiharadesign 07-15-2013 01:46 PM

I think the word cheap is probably not the right word..lol. The word price friendly might be better ;)

This is why I never bring my car to the dealership/let people I don't trust drive the car.

Luckily you have a polished lip so you can sand that down and fix it for the most part, looks real deep.

Clipdat 07-15-2013 01:56 PM

Do you have any pictures of the wheels on the car w/o blemishes? I would try to pin it on them regardless of if it's hard to prove.

Would be in the dealerships best interest not to try to argue that they didn't do it.

Not thinking it was a curb. Thinking it hit the edge of a lift. Which is more likely to be painted blue.

You almost need to record a video of a walkaround inspection prior to any work being done on your car anymore - and let the service people know you have it prior to them beginning their work! Of course they probably would still deny all claims of shop misbehavior or accident ...

My bet as well. Techs usually kick the lift arms under the car, sometimes mis-judging...

frslee 07-15-2013 09:36 PM

That's not bad. I'd feel the same way.

As long as the cheaper wheels are not super heavy, I'll be more than happy to consider some 17s rotas.

Drftfan 07-15-2013 10:41 PM

I am not too upset. Just makes me happy I didn't spend a huge amount on some JDM rims that would take forever to get a replacement for.
But they are damn sexy...

n2oinferno 07-15-2013 10:46 PM

Yeah, but you realize that if that was specifically a Rota wheel your car then would have burst into flames and exploded, most likely killing everyone in a half-mile radius.

:D

:D

Including the idiots that messed them. I'm not seeing any negatives here. :happy0180:

I would go into the shop and look at the lifts, make sure to leave the paint there till you do. My dealership put a dent in my car pulling on to the lift too fast and bottoming it out, I went back showed them the dent and how the shape and size of it matched the big bolt heads sticking out of the top of the lift ramps and they made it right. Don't let them off the hook if they did it, at least investigate.

Drftfan 07-16-2013 10:11 AM

I took a look and I didn't see anything when I went by the dealership just peering in. Who knows if they in fact did it? I certainly do not remember hitting anything.
But yesterday when I was filling up with gas I noticed that you couldn't see the damage depending on what position the wheel was in. So who knows how long it has been there, I genuinely do not think I hit anything though.
My last car that had aftermarket rims had tires that were more stretched than these. I curbed those a few times so this time around I have been way more careful.
It is possible I hit something on the highway. I could speculate all day.
