OEM USB/Stereo Port

Does anyone know the part number, or where I could order this? It's that little usb and mini jack port to the right of the cellphone/ipod holder, down by the shifter. I plan on upgrading my headunit to one that doesn't have an aux input, but has two usb inputs on back, so I want to order another of this part and modify it to accept two usb jacks. Thanks!

I'm not sure about the part number but I think it would be easier to make something custom out of a blank piece of plastic or wood. The whole piece pops out and it doesnt seem like it would be very easy to modify. I took mine out and used some cardboard and closed cell foam to make a temporary solution.

Now that I think of it.. yeah, I probably could just pop it out and measure it. Model it in Rhinoceros and have Shapeways.com print me out an actual insert.. I might just try that.

I probably wouldn't need to do this if they'd make a wiring harness that could easily hook into the oem usb and microphone. Toyota, as smart as they are, really are dumb as hell for not using a universal mini jack and usb connectors on the backs of the stock radios.

It'd actually look something like this, if it prints right.

Gotta love rapid prototype machines.

Yup. Instead of waiting for those knuckleheads to make a part that should've existed already, or shouldn't have needed to exist, I can just model it and order the part for myself. I loves you, Shapeways.com!

You need one of these. It worked great when I temporarily swapped mine out but then decided I liked the new headunit even less.

Well, I just got an email that my custom part is going to the 3d printer. Hopefully, it will fit right. if it does, the two radios that I'm looking at are:

Pioneer avh-x8500bhs

Or

Sony xav-701hd

Anyone have any useful info on either deck? I chose both for hd radio, dual usb in reat and both claim full pandora integration with android over bluetooth.

I'd still be interested if anyone knows the part number.

NZ cars ship with a different head unit that doesn't support AUX/USB so the car doesn't have this connector block - just a blanking plate where one would be.

Now that I've replaced the radio with one of those Chinese Android-based units, I'd quite like to add the connectors to the dash.

I had to pull the usb/aux port out of mine so I could measure it for the 3d model I sent to shapeways.com. The part number on the side of the thing is 86257CA000 I googled it and it showed up on a few subaru part sites. It isn't cheap, though, ranging from like $60 to $90 or so.

GreenPants 07-15-2013 07:04 PM

Well, at least I know what to order now! Thanks.

Update. Here's the part I modeled in Rhinoceros and had Shapeways.com make, with thet two usb plugs installed.

Now, is the actual part just two rectangle holes, and the usb just clicks in?
