Uncool.

It's a German car, on top of that it's a BMW. According to Top Gear's rules, as cool as they are, they are driven by cocks. Plus it's smaller than a 3-series, which is seen by most girls I know as the "base" BMW, so it makes you look even cheaper and more of a wannabe.

Also, one of the rules was if you have to explain it, it's not cool. Try having to explain the overboost function or brag about it, and it then falls under that rule.

It's saving grace from being Seriously Uncool is its performance, and the look that started the new M-Sport trends amongst BMW. Oh, and the car handles amazingly, so it gets a plus there.

Sorry, but how does being German automatically make it less cool than non-German car? There are cool cars from every market. German, Italian, British, Japanese, American, etc.

Personally I think the 1M is a cool car, not quite sub-zero but close. In the short period of time it was sold, it offered M3 or better handling for less money. I recall seeing videos of it performing better than a Cayman S, and was subjectively just as fun to drive. And the wide-body stance seriously improved the bland styling of the regular 1 series. And it's one of the rarest modern BMW's around, so it's a very solid "cool" from me.

like someone who bought a 1991 supra instead of a 93 or newer?

I voted cool because it's a cheaper, lighter BMW. But it's not sub-zero because it still looks like an ugly sedan.

According to Topgear, all cocks have started driving Audis and no longer drive bmws.

Top Gear's Cool Wall usually falls that, ignoring supercars, German cars are either cool or uncool. BMW's because of their stereotypical **** drivers are usually uncool or seriously uncool.

I'm far from a JDM snob. I've never owned a Euro-car, but all of my friends have and I have plenty of experience with them. I enjoy them, and hold nothing against them.

I'll agree that every market has it's cool cars, just like each market has it's flobs as well.

I willing bought a '91 Supra over the MK4. If I could have, I would have bought a '92, but I will never own an MK4. I find the styling of the MK4 a bit bland, especially in stock form. Plus I will never join the 2JZ bandwagon, even if the car comes with one stock.

All in all, the MK4 is a great car, I'll give it that. It is just way too overhyped for a 20 year old car and not my taste.

Not true for BMW's with an "M" badge on them.

Regardless. Its still a cool car. Back to the basics for bmw. No twin clutch, no overweight, oversized body. FR layout with a 6spd manual with a nimble chassis and great motor. Refreshing to see that kind of car from a german car maker these days.

German cars are nice as hell but are all becoming cluttered with driver aids, fancy gearboxes, computers out the ass etc etc. Nice to see these kinds of cars being made
