Stupid purchases

So i just realized that the amount of parts ive bought in the last year of owning my car i could have fully paid off my car?!

bkblitzed 07-13-2013 02:28 AM

without going fi i cant really see that happening. Unless you did buy really dumb purchases lol.

Luis_GT 07-13-2013 03:36 AM

I just bought parts for a car I don't even have...

serialk11r 07-13-2013 04:45 AM

I've only bought some oil changes so far...managed to not spend anything yet :D

Lee358 07-13-2013 08:31 AM

I owe around 9000 on the brz ive bought...
Wheels and tires 1700
Muffler delete 130
Tune 800
Front pipe over pipe around 500
Header 799
Shift knob 80

Grimmspeed parts around 200 (probably a little more, license plate kit, battery tie down, oil cap, mastercylender brace, hood struts.)

Headlight upgrade demoneyes and body match paint $800 (needed a new headlight)
Helmet for autox 110

I have to say, with a smile on my face, the first thing I thought of was Forrest Gump's words. :)

Close but no cigar.

I'm about $14k in and no FI. That's including some deep discounts on parts too. I keep an excel file with all my purchases and I have a few folders full of receipts. I figure another $15k and I'll be done modding.

The good news is that the car is paid for. :)

If you have a solid income, manageable debt, and adequate savings, knock yourself out. If you're blowing the rent money, grocery money or adding significantly to your debt...yeah...that would be stupid...

I need to get myself into a debt free situation. Student loans, why do you rape me so much every month!
