Vertex lipkit install at DTM autobody: Review

Alright so here is another review, but this time of DTM autobody in regards to the lip kit paint process and install of the kit.

So why DTM autobody?

Leland from DTM @DTMAUTOBODY was practically the only person that went out of their way to get a hold of me to offer me their services. I contacted a couple body shops in the area of my work since the kit was there and unfortunately, most shops would not do the install and only do the paint. The other shops warranties did not sound that appealing when I mentioned that if their paint wasn't spot on that I could take it back to have it redone. DTM was the place that gave me a great price and also has a great warranty and offered the install as well. So why wouldn't I consider installing the kit myself? Simple! I don't trust myself in that department and rather have professionals do it :bellyroll: lol

The process:

I had my best friend drop off my lip kit since my time is limited due to grad school and working 6 days a week from 8 to 5. Leland was totally cool with that and gave my buddy a receipt for me to keep. My best buddy noticed an awesome ferrari as well as other cars that looked "extremely clean." My buddy also mentioned that every was really nice and very welcoming. From this point I had a good feeling about them, but was curious about this "extremely clean" work.

Scheduled a time to meet with Leland and do a color match a week later or so. I showed up to DTM and everyone there was very welcoming! The young ladies inside were very nice and Leland was super nice! Even the other guys that worked there were really nice! I remember a previous experience at another body shop years ago with people acting "tough" and not saying hello or even bothering to talk to me. DTM was completely different! Super nice people and a great looking shop!

So this extremely clean Ferrari deal was definitely what my friend said. Leland said something about them painting it and holy balls it is super clean. The paint was perfect and spot on! They had some other cars there such as a couple s2ks done up REALLY nice. I was then convinced that their work was VERY clean and top notch stuff. Let's not forget the numerous trophies and magazine articles they have been featured in. Leland was/is extremely knowledgeable about the business and paint among other things. After matching up the lip kit to the car and seeing that the color matched, I was very impressed that they were able to get the color close to the car since it's a 3 stage pearl white (whiteout). Spot on in my opinion is impossible with this type of paint due to the oem paint taking a beating from the sun. Very impressed!

I came back a couple weeks later due to my time constraints for the install, which is 07.12.13. Again, everyone was super nice and welcoming and even had some good conversation about some cars and the employees cars. You have to see this sick evo they have there! While waiting for my car to be completed, i was offered to watch a movie. Never had that happen before! Again, great customer service. I generally wasn't alone and was able to talk to everyone in there like they knew me. While waiting for the car, they offered to wash my car, which is another great gesture of customer service.

The kit:

I walked outside with Leland to check my car out and my jaw just dropped on how amazing the car looks with the vertex lip kit:confused0068:. pictures are one thing, but to see it in person is another thing! I am very impressed with the fitment of the vertex and how great of a job DTM did with the install. Super clean, no issues, no scratches or mistakes. I have seen some issues that people have had with the front lip, but DTM was able to make it happen with no problems. The paint looks great and like "heaven" just as Leland had described. They also hooked me up with some DTM stickers on my car. WOOT!:happyanim:

Overall:
- great communication between the shop and I and Leland
- received phone calls about my appointment before the date
- very friendly staff. very welcoming and hospitable
- clean and nice shop
- sense of urgency and much attention to make sure the customer is happy
- VERY impressive work on other cars. Take a look at their blog. The cars they have done for sema and customers is absolutely top notch work!
- damn good pricing!
- spot on fitment and very clean work
- top notch paint job
- great turn around time
- awesome warranty

I'll definitely be back to fix the chips on my front bumper from rocks and probably other work I want to do on the car in the future. I would HIGHLY recommend these guys if you need work done on your car and you want it to be perfect. They can also get parts for a pretty damn competitive price too! I've definitely found my go to shop! Hit up leland on here @DTMAUTOBODY or give him a call at DTM autobody in El Monte. You won't be disappointed.

This is the video i took of my car after the install when they were finished!super stoked! follow me on IG to see updates!

Idk if it's the light or not, but it looks like the paint doesn't match. Kit looks nice though, what's better is that you like it. Congrats :)

It's mostly the lighting. They got it pretty damn close. Kinda like how my trd wing doesn't match at certain angles. That's the tough part of having a three stage pearl. the paint will start to cream out more like my paint on the car over time and due to the sun

That makes sense, I wasn't really sure though. That's the reason why I opted for the ht auto kit. Just cause I want to avoid painting parts and risk not being perfect.

Understandable. If you look at pics online of the whiteout frs and trd kit and vertex kit the colors are all like mine. Just need a little love from the sun. The paint was matched to the front and rear bumpers which is the proper way to do it
