Actually, that's only some Auto-X, Drag Racing, and NASCAR. HPDEs, ALMS, all Touring Cars, F1, and Rally are held rain or shine.

Classic example of target fixation.

Combination of target fixation and possibly a lack of knowledge of what a car does when the rear tires bite and the car stops sliding sideways. I assume he unwound the wheel thinking the car was going to keep sliding and he didn't want it to rotate as fast as it had been.

Needed more throttle.

Anyone knows, or care to find out, why the car suddenly jerk forward when he stopped the drifting? Was he releasing the clutch? automatic? or what have you?

Anyway, just notice that this drive is actually free of charge. I wonder if the driver needs to pay for the damage.

The car jerks forward because the rear tires bit. When they stop spinning and start grabbing, the car starts to move forward again. Go to your local drag strip and watch the cars doing their burnouts.

Notice how the car jerks forward as the tires hook up?

Ah.. Thanks for the explanation. I guess the driver was thinking if he could spin a bit more and let the rear gripped so that he can move forward rather than hitting the plate. So he needed more throttle to complete the drift but didn't.
