Scion Display Audio: New Base Unit

1 Attachment(s)
I just saw this so I apologize if its been answered. Searched but saw only info on the premium.

Price is listed at 239 MSRP, I called a few dealers and they all wanted around 500 for just the part. I called Scion directly and they weren't any help other than stating what I already know. I mentioned Pure Price and they said that only applies to the car. Funny how that wasn't the case when I was buying my car last year. Anyways, anyone else been able to get it for around that price?

the 2013 base frs i bought last week had it installed off the lot, the others there had the previous unit

What was your invoice on it?

The websites Msrp is for the upgrade as if it was new frs and your still choosing options.

The old pioneer base HU (no touchscreen) has an Msrp price of 489.00 if your buying it standalone. I doubt this would be cheaper if your trying to buy it standalone. (You would stand to profit if you could sell your old base unt)

Ridiculously overpriced

It would be nice if they stated that because that isn't the case with the exhaust or the intake etc. Those parts have OEM replacements of course but the pricing reflects what they actually charge you to get it (Except Labor) whereas the HU lists itself only as what it costs. I did ask them if that was the upgrade price but as well and they still didn't say it was that. They all kept saying thats just the MSRP and doesn't reflect what dealers choose to actually charge.

I dont notice a difference personally (only drove my frs a few times before swapping radio), but the GM of the local Toyota dealer says that after driving his 86 with the old HU the new one definitely sounds better.

That probably says that there's not a big difference. My previous car was nothing special, mazda protege 2002 with a jvc receiver and stock speakers; but I immediately notice the lower sq of the toyota listening to the same ipod files.

The window sticker says 239 for display audio on the base model I saw @ my dealership and this was yesterday.

I just picked up my 2013 FR-S and it came with the Scion Display Audio, I paid $239 for it as an addon. They had another FR-S in the dealership that came with the SDA for $239 plus the Bespoke package for $1189, so looks like you need both now or that's how they're going to start selling it.

Only had the car two days but sofar the HU's not to bad.

I'm sure you can pick up the SDA itself. You don't need to add on the BeSpoke package.

that's what I did and only paid $239 for the SDA. They had another car on the lot and on it's sticker it had the SDA for 239 plus the Bespoke for $1189, so I think you now need the SDA first before you can add the Bespoke package. At least that's what the sticker read. Sorry if how I originally said it was confusing.

This unit looks similar to the one in our rental corolla a few months ago.
