How did Subaru do a majority of the engineering work..?? This is a all new engine with both Subaru and Toyota contributing to the design and Toyota already made the body design. :iono: I quote with no hate towards Subaru but to much credit is given to Subaru for this car seeing how they didn't have a RWD car for so many years. Toyota, led by project leader led by Tetsuya Tada, offered Subaru involvement in their sport coupé project, co-developing a new boxer engine known as the D4-S. On a side note who came up with the name "Twins" inquiring minds want to know....:iono: Twins means Two or am I missing something here as there's four models the Toyota FT-86 l Toyota GT 86 |Scion FR-S | Subaru BRZ |..?? |

FYI The boxer engine is FA20. D4-S is simply just Toyota's direct injection system, the engine is still all Subaru. What other toyota do you know made boxer engines? None. Subaru makes them in all their cars. I'm simply stating, underneath they are all the same car. But if you don't believe Subaru engineered it, then please watch this video [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co4tMJ_4d1A"]New SUBARU BRZ In Detail Film Part 1 - 2013 New Car Review HD - YouTube[/ame] Actually I don't have to say much more other than for you to watch that video. I'm actually truly surprised on the level of ignorance you have on the subject. I thought all FRS/GT86/BRZ owners understood what the car is. |
It is just badges. Do what you want if it makes you happy.

I don't see this saying only Subaru. Powering two vehicles that are on the Car and Driver Magazine’s “10Best Car” of the 2013 list – the Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S, the “FA20” Boxer engine is compact, lightweight and has a low-center of-gravity. Combining with Toyota’s “4-DS” direct injection and port injection technology, the engine produces 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb.-ft of torque at 6400-6600 rpm. The car is a Toyota design with a Subaru joint partnership to make it of which Toyota owns a part of Fuji Heavy Industries. |
was thinking of swapping in Toyota badges as well, but after seeing people in Japan swapping theirs for Scion badges, I decided to pretend I'm a guy in Japan who thinks he's cooler than other Japanese guys.

Personally, I have the toyota badges on mine because I think they just look nicer with the car than the scion badges do. And if anyone says you're a poser, explain to them how the plate inside the door says it's manufactured by subaru, you bought it from scion, and everywhere else it's a toyota--so really you can just pick whatever the hell you want it to be.
|
The bottom line is this rebadge your car if it's what you like as your the one paying for it.;)
As for the great question about these cars for all the Subaru BRZ owners that like to post about their car being better than the FR-S all I have to say is you wouldn't have your BRZ if it wasn't for Toyota end of the story. |
It's not only the BRZ people that think their car is better than the FR-S in Europe alot of GT86 people think the same thing that it's a stripped and cheapened version of the real GT86 and just makes the car's image cheaper overall and find badging the FR-S to the Toyota is sad because it doesent have all the thing's that makes the GT86 different and makes people that dont know the car think that the FR-S is the GT86 while the the GT86 is actually quite nicer looking.. it's somewhat the same to people with full optioned Audi/Bmw's that look down on people that buy the same car with no options at all because if you buy the car you should buy it the way it's supposed to be.. sry for my english btw this is not my opinion...

Slap a Supra badge on it for all you should care about what other people think. Do what makes you feel good and what you feel looks good. They don't have to see it every day, but you do!
I love my Toyota badges not because it makes me happier to be driving a Toyota (I think the tC is nicer than the Corolla, so I don't really understand the hate, and ist (xA in US) and bB (xB in US) were incredibly stupid names so I don't believe Toyota does everything right!), but like a small modification that I did that is fitting to the car and what I believe is a visual upgrade. Enjoy it! |
I put on toyota badges because it gives the feeling of heritage. Scion is a marketing scheme but toyota is the maker. I prefer to represent the creator and not the guy in hip clothing selling the product.
