Moving to Orlando
Moving to Orlando through work at the end of august early september. Looks like the office is near downtown orlando off Magnolia Avenue. Any places I should check out to live? I will have to go to Jacksonville once a month as well.
|
That location really allows you to live anywhere near Orlando. Going to Jacksonville will be I-4 to I-95 which I-4 runs through downtown Orlando. Traffic would be your only issue, but seeing as you are from Richmond, you are used to not so fun traffic. Avoid Pine Hills, not the best neighborhood. Winter Park and Avalon Park are a little more upscale, but Avalon Park has a ride down a toll road to get to downtown. Hopefully a few of the other Orlando guys will chime in here.. @greenguy101

+1 on Winter Park. Not to far away from downtown as well. That side of town is a lot better. I live by all the touristy areas and it gets annoying -_-
Is there any twisty back roads in Orlando? |

@UnOvertime is right. Pretty much anywhere in Orlando area will suite your needs. I also live in the UCF/Oviedo area which is on the east side of Orlando. The only way to get to the east and west sides of Orlando are toll roads. Anything along the I-4 coradore should suit you pretty well. Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Maitland and parts of Sanford are all safe bets.

Almost no backroads to speak of. You'll need to drive out to Clermont to do backroad driving sadly.
Winter Park is a nice area. Avalon is nice and fairly inexpensive but it is hell to get anywhere. The 3 entrance/exits are all massive bottlenecks. I live in the cheaper side of Winter Park (near Cassleberry) and love it. Altamonte Springs is decent area too. North of downtown so getting into downtown in rushhour suuuucks but it's what you give up for affordable, decent living. Windermere if you're ballin'. Gotta pay to play big time there though. Doctor Philips if you are looking for really nice and have means for it as well (not quite as high as Windermere but it's 2nd in line) |
Cool guys thank you for the info. I will look at winter park and avalon. I am not balling thinking somewhere around 600 in rent maybe swing up to 850 but it would be close. For the Local Orlando guys if you know any cool people looking for a roomate in winter park area let me know.
|
Definitely will need a roommate for that. Cheapest 1 bedroom apts I have seen are $800. Is garage access important? (For some, like me, it's a requirement for the weekend race equipment)
|
I am looking for apartments and I can find them 625-850 pretty easily for a 1 bedroom or a studio but I think a roomate would be ideal. Garage access is not needed.

Join Orlando 86 on Facebook if you're going to be an 86 owner in the Orlando area. It seems to be the biggest organization I've found. I actually live in Tampa but I'm in Orlando 86 because Orlando just has such a bigger car culture going on.

Just sent a request thanks.

Slow in progress but my company gave me the ok and I am moving to Orlando Sept 9th so the apartment hunt is on. I joing the orlando 86 group but looking at places to live actively now. anyone know anything about amber lakes? I see they are in Winter Park and run about my budget. Planning around 700-750 for a studio tops.
