Alright I'm about an hour away from columbia SC, and 30 minutes from Augusta Georgia. I'm yet to track my car after almost a year. I'm really missing out so iv heard. So if anyone can help me with locating the nearest track around the columbia Augusta area I would Ppreciate it. Take into consideration iv never tracked my car before and I'm new to it. The more information the better, thanks.

Thanks man! Don't be afraid to post people! Anything will help, I'm willing to drive several hours. Another problem I have is I'm not to knowledgable when it comes to tracking. What are the requirements? Can I show up an just drive? Iv never did it before please inform me.

Typically you sign up for the event, pick a car number, print out a waiver/inspection sheet, inspect the car or have them inspect it depending on how the group runs things, make sure you have a snell sa2005 or later helmet and you're pretty much good to go. Do you have any modifications in the car?

Also, bring lots of water, show up early so you get a garage spot if there are any available. Pay attention to the class, your instructor and when you're out there, you want to focus on track safety, looking out for corner workers holding flags, and checking your rear view mirror on passing zones. Work on your technique/speed after you develop track awareness.

Carolina Motorsports Park is a fun and decently cheap track to have fun on. I have done a couple of events there in the past. I'm always down to meet up with a fellow FRS/BRZ owner and head to the track sometime.

There are three great tracks in Georgia. Road Atlanta is in the Northeast corner of the Atlanta suburbs in Braselton, GA. It is definitely the most famous of the three and hosts many professional series. There is a nearly brand new track called Atlanta Motorsports Park even further to the North of Atlanta in Dawsonville, GA. Then there is Roebling Road Raceway just outside of Savannah in Pooler, GA. I can't comment on AMP, but I have driven both Road Atlanta and Roebling Road multiple times, and they are great tracks. Road Atlanta is one of the few tracks with great elevation changes and can be very intimidating to a new driver. It has a really fast back straight. I think Roebling Road would be a great track for a first time driver. It is full of long sweeping corners with some being double apex and the front straight speeds will be less unless you really nail the final corner leading on to the straight.

^What Tut said. You're in a great spot for a beginner with 4 tracks (fairly) close to you. I can't comment on RA or AMP but between CMP and RRR I think Roebling is a good place to start. There are events there quite often, and its definitely the cheapest track around. $200 for 2 days is pretty common there.

www.clubregistration.net is a great site to use for finding events.

I would recommend looking for DE (driver education) events. For a small fee (or none at all sometimes), you get an instructor in the car, giving advice and pointing out mistakes that you could fix. I would avoid open track days until you get a little experience. I was in your shoes a few months ago and the HPDE events really helped me to learn the basics of track driving.

An yes im truly a beginner when it comes to driven on a track, I consider my skills of driving pretty well with this car. 19500, miles been all over the country been on some pretty fun roads I must say, but yes iv heard a track is completely different. But thank you all for the information. Keep it comin though, those tracks are in Georgia I know theres gotta be a few in the Sc,Nc region.

Typically he goes to Talladega Gran Prix in Alabama, but sometimes he goes to other locations around the SE like Roebling, CMP or AMP.

I don't know of any other tracks in South Carolina other than Carolina Motorsports Park (CMP) in Kershaw, SC. If you want to drive to North Carolina, they run the roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway sometimes and there is a facility called North Carolina Center for Automotive Research (NCCAR) in Garysburg, NC that does track events sometimes.

I have driven at CMP and it is worth a weekend.

You'll definitely want to have some in car instruction on your first day out.

OP, you say you want tracks "in SC". Well there really aren't any other than what has been mentioned. And Roebling Road is like 10 miles from the border. Doesn't get much more convenient than what we've already listed.
