Hi guys,
I am a new innovate supercharger owner, will be getting it installed \ dyno'd in the next few days. Can any of you let me know whether or not you have needed to install an oil catch can system on your innovate\vortech supercharger systems?
Cheers!

Do you NEED one? No. The car will run just fine without.
SHOULD you get one? Yes. By reducing or eliminating the oil that enters the intake, you'll get less knock and can run better timing.
The thing is, horizontally-opposed (boxer) engines tend to have pretty dirty PCV systems; especially if you do AutoX or track-days. The oil won't leave the heads as readily under higher G turns which means it can get splashed into the PCV system. That oil will end up back in your intake and get burned off. And it doesn't take much engine knowledge to figure out what happens when an engine set up to burn clean fuel/air mixtures gets dirty oil sprayed into it.
With forced induction the issue can become worse as not only are you seeing higher speeds and potentially higher cornering forces, but you're also going to get higher crankcrase pressures which mean more volume through the PCV system.
TL;DR: An AOS isn't necessary, but it's a REALLY good idea.
