The, things that never made sense to me about this car thread.

Clearly, there is tons of confusion for this car ever since the dawn of the twins, of course as owners we get asked tons of questions, some bad, some good. But sometimes i'm asked things even i don't know how to answer, or even i conjure up these questions of which i cannot find an answer. So of which, i created this thread.

#1: Why did the Scion FRS at the NYIAS (New York International Auto Show) have a clear bra on the front bumper, hood and fenders? This made people think this was an option, which i don't believe it is?

#2: Is the color Firestorm really an ode to the old AE86?

#3: Is the 1980's clock on the car an ode to the old AE86?

#4: Why could i buy this car in the winter with summer tires?

I don't know

What about the chick in your avatar?

Celica00 07-06-2013 06:03 PM

#1 is an option. albeit an overpriced option. you can buy the hood and fenders, or the front bumper or both.

the rest of your Q's don't matter enough to me to even think about it.

Calidrifter 07-06-2013 06:06 PM

Yes the clock is a throwback:
see second picture(best I could find in a quick search)

Calidrifter 07-06-2013 06:18 PM

As for the firestorm being an ode to the AE86:

Videos are at the bottom right

#4: lazy dealership?

TylerLieberman 07-06-2013 06:20 PM

The clock is old fashioned but not cause of the 86. If thats the case, the xb and tc and pretty much every other toyota/scion is an ode to the 86...

Yeah, Toyotas have had the same basic digital clock for decades. the best part being it was optional - that's right, you paid extra for it or else you got a blank or shallow pocket shelf.

As for the rest, any and all homages are perfectly likely.

The comma after the word "the" in the title of this thread doesn't make sense to me. XD

#1 dealer option

#2: doubt it, since that is a Subaru color

#3: don't know

#4: because it doesn't really matter/dealers just want your money/idk

Same as above except #4 - probably left over summer manufacture that didn't sell. Or a dealer swap from one region to another.

The clock is the same one that's in my Corolla and just about every other Toyota I've owned. It works fine and is simple to set. What's the problem?
