FR-S Fireworks (lots-o-pics)

I decided to head out to a local fireworks display with the hopes of getting a good place to park to get some long exposure pictures with my FR-S. You don't really realize how difficult it is to get a parking spot where you can do a photo shoot with your car during a fireworks display until you try to find one. I got lucky that a big truck parked far enough away that there wasn't enough room to fit another vehicle between us comfortably.

Here I am just bracketing some shots to get an idea of F-Stop and shutter speed setting before the sky lights up.

And there goes the first shot of the night with a 2 second shutter speed.

Increasing speed to 4 seconds

This was my favorite shot but I couldn't get further back to get a higher focal length shot due to the truck that was just cropped out of the right side.

Let's try some reflections in the paint and windshield...

And for the back window...

This is my second favorite picture after I tweaked the levels a bit.

The beginning of the finale

And the end of the end. This was very loud and very bright which overexposed the shot. But it blew out the picture in a pretty cool way.

I wanted to do the same thing, but there's no where to park to get that kind of shot :(

The trick here is to use a smaller aperture to keep the sky in balance and the car in focus, and pre expose the car with a remote flash :)

These were shot with a Canon 5D Mark II with a 24-105mm EF lens. Foreground light is courtesy of a street light that was behind me.
