yeah and plus its a LOT easier if you are importing for racing reasons like i am... i will be JDM on the track but USDM on the street, just change the badges to toyota, none of us will ridicule you :D its all the same car both are toyotas, or just buy the top line brz its up to you

There's a guy here in SD with a '71 Skyline 2000GT and I was talking about to him about his car when I saw it near a Trader Joes. He told the process of importing the older JDM cars here.

Really! Can you explain more on the process of importing for off road use. Texas seems to be very relaxed when it comes to cars unlike California; which is the only negative thing about being on the West Coast.

mainly because it wont be a road vehicle, doesnt have to pass emissions, safety, and other shit, my friend had a s14 imported from japan and said they pretty much just checked it for bombs in customs and had to sign off the it wasn't for legal road use, and that he was using off road only, had to pay import taxes, and a few other things :D

all i know is what he told me, he did it to save money and time cause it was going to be a show/drift only car

There is too much red tape to go through. Has to pass emissions testing, safety testing (this includes you buying three versions of the car and having them crash test it, and then you can drive off with your forth) and all kinds of other shit.

But hey... let us know if you decide to do it, because after the first person does the crash testing of a JDM model for us, it becomes a lot easier!

I bet you will be able to buy the HIDs and dualzone AC with push start all for less than $1500 in parts from subaru or toyota....

The leather alcantra seats are just covers, not sure how much that will cost.

HIDs from dealers are usually pretty expensive. Could be as much as $1500 a side for entire headlight housing and hid ballast, etc.

Nav system would be in Japanese, LOL.

Never underestimate the cost of OEM parts.

STI HIDs are $700 a pop.

Its a legit question, because CLEARLY (and i emphasize CLEARLY) the Scion FRS, Toyota GT/86 and the Subaru BRZ are COMPLETELY and DIFINITIVELY different cars.

Here are several other cars that are vastly different from each other:

Scion tC and Toyota Zelas. COMPLETELY different.
Pontiac GTO and Holden Monaro. COMPLETELY different.
Pontiac G8 and Holden commodore. COMPLETELY different.
Chevrolet Cavalier, Toyota Cavalier. COMPLETELY different.

They are completely different cars. And if i were to guess how much it would cost to import? Alot. Its a shame. because some of these cars are WAY WAY better than what we get in NA. I sure wish I had a Toyota Corolla Sportivo/Tsport instead of my Toyota Corolla XRS. (Look it up, they're COMPLETELY different cars.)

Erm, they really aren't that different. Different exterior and interior options, but everything else is the same.
