What is the best wax to use for the 86?

What are some of the best waxes or clay bar brands to use for our car?
Do you use spray waxes, or paste waxes or other?

1) That are inexpensive
2) That are moderately priced
3) That are top of the line, money is no object.

meguiars liquid wax.. i love that... 20$ comes with a nice size mico cloth too..

i got this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Simoniz-S57-Perfect-Finish-Detailing/dp/B0081OSRQQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1372960749&sr= 1-2&keywords=clay+bar"]Amazon.com: Simoniz S57 Perfect Finish Detailing Clay Bar: Automotive[/ame] i also use quick detail spray from meguiars when using the clay bar..

3) Pinnacle Souveran, Wolfgang Fuzion. 2) Pinnacle Signature Series II, BlackFire fire over ice combo. 1) Megs ultimate Liquid (durability sucks), Mothers Carnuba (difficult to use). You get what you pay for but more importantly you have to experience them because everyone sees them differently.

I'm not sure about your categories 1 & 2, but imo Zaino products are hard to beat. I'm not in any way affiliated with Zaino (except as a customer for about ten years), but i've come to appreciate the quality of its products, not only Z2 and Z5 paint finish products (utilizing the ZFX additive), but also its clay bar and Z6 detailing spray. I know there are excellent competing brands, I'm just telling you what works for me.

Zaino for me.

Which ever one protects your cars paint the most.

You want shine? Just got for 100% Carnauba wax paste. It won't last long but its the best shine period. Also you can apply Carnauba paste with your hand.

Protection? Synthetic wax, ones you can layer are good but most of the ones you can buy at an automotive store will work.

Any specific Synthetic waxes you can recommend? I'm looking for protection more than anything else.

Personally i use Ammo Skin but thats quite expensive.

Mothers synthetic wax is pretty good, also look up the stuff they sell at Detailers Domain, great site.

meguiar's tech wax 2.0 gives the best metallic flake pop for the money. I used it on my raven and the metallic flakes pop twice as much as using a carnauba. Th tech wax also goes on and off like butter. People complain about durability, but for the money and ease of use, if I have to apply it a few times a year and keep up in between with quick detailer and quick wax im not worried about it. The stuff is THAT good on cars with metallic finishes to them. Asphault, white, raven, silver, etc

1) collinite 845
2) Blackfire wet diamond
3) Wolfgang Fuzion

If stranded on an island, forced to detail, with only 1 LSP, its Blackfire wet diamond

I second collinite 845, that wax is amazing and you can really feel the difference after.

Rejex. I use it for the protection, but it happens to look great (and is insanely easy to apply) too.

WolfsFang 07-11-2013 02:51 PM

little off topic but do you guys clay bar your car before every wax?

Admiral Ballsy 07-11-2013 03:20 PM

I don't. I use it before Rejexing, on a new (or new to me) car. Afterward, there's no need.

My two BRZs have been super clean, as far as needing clay bar work. I've had some cars that were just covered with rail dust, but these were great.
