Moving to central NJ, shop advice?

What's up guys, new to the site and brand new owner of an Asphalt FR-S M/T, had it for 5 days and enjoying every bit of it so far. Well except for when a guy in a Mustang cut me off 3 times yesterday trying to get me to race. Whatever. Coming from a 240 with SR20 i do miss the power but there's a lot that makes up for it.

I'm currently in SC but moving to the central NJ area the first week of August(military, Air Force) and wanting some info on shops around the area. Google gave me some names, Ivey Tune, WB Performance, a few others. I've read of a few tuning shops on this site, one was getting a lot of hate but i forget which one it was and why. Primarily a body shop for now, i got an exhaust and front pipe coming in that i'll be able to install down here and im saving up for a Rocket Bunny kit which i plan on doing a couple of months down the road as long as my fiance keeps looking the other way as she's doing now haha(she loves the car so that's been helping). Any info would be greatly appreciated and hope to start meeting up with fellow owners soon!

Off topic question, i'm looking at the Freehold, Manalapan and East Windsorship area for apartments, never been to NJ(originally from NY) and the few people i know who were stationed in NJ are divided as to how how those areas are. For example, one says Freehold is awesome and one says i should look somewhere else. Sorry for the long post and the unrelated question, i won't know anyone up there so i've been interrogating anyone who's even been to Jersey lol.

First, I'd like to welcome you to the forum and the Subie world! It's a fairly tight knit community and lots of different tastes to go around. We have been in the subie biz for 11+ years starting in my parents driveway and now we have a 3,000 sqft shop in Kenilworth (Exit 138 on the GSP) probably about 1hr North of where you will be at. We pride ourselves on being up front with our customers even if it means we send you somewhere else to get the work done because we simply aren't skilled at what it is you need done. We aren't a "we do everything" shop and aren't afraid to admit it. If you have any interest in tracking your car we've been instructors at NJMP, Watkins Glen, Limerock, etc with BMCCA and NASA and SCCA and usually go to the track at least 1-2 weekends a month.

Second, on a more personal note, thanks for serving in the military. I worked about 4 blocks from ground zero on 9/11 and really appreciate all the men and women who serve in the military!

I heard great things about AZP also. I would also contact Billy at 987 Motorsports, great guy.

AZP without a doubt!

welcome!

well for starters AZP installs for all your modification/mantenance/track/etc needs.

if you want a tune the only place i would EVER allows to touch my cars is EFi logics. they are in CT but worth the two hour trip.

as for places to do the rocket bunny kit, i would honestly think about that. pm me if you have questions and i can recommend you an awesome body shop where they can do it for you. they have ide body's sti's before and are familiar with fitment.

when you're in jersey come out to one of our tuesday night meets! the local community is more active on Nasioc Tristate then ft86 club to be honest.

hope to see you around and thank you for your services!

Another recommendation for AZP Installs for all your maintenance and install needs!

I've been a customer of theirs for 12 years when they just started up in 2001 when I got my bugeye WRX. Now 260k miles later I'm still bringing the WRX up to them along with my BRZ for the past year!
