July 17th Import night at Portland International Raceway. Car show, Drag races, +more

July 17th (and Sept 4th) is Import night at Portland International Raceway. Every Wednesday night they have a car show for older (pre-75) and exotic American cars. July 17th is our time to show off our cars at the car show. In addition to the car show, which is non-competitive, there are drag races, live music, food provided by Beaches restaurant (which employs many attractive women I might add), raffles (which I won last year), and so many cars that you won't know what to look at first. This is literally the largest weekly car show I know of. Plus it's at an actual race track. It's cheap to get your car into the show as well. I think it's $10 if I remember correctly. The food is good, beer and drinks are good, plus a friendly atmosphere.

It starts at 4pm and goes until sunset and you can show at anytime. If would be really fun to get a large group of us there to show everyone how cool our cars are, plus how cool we are as well. ;)

I'll be there so I hope all ya'll will be there with me.

PIR Import Night 7/17

The 86er meetup this Saturday the 13th fell through, but Wednesday, July 17th, is Import Night at PIR. @stockysnail posted up a Facebook event, but nobody seems to have posted it here. Anyone going? I will go if we get a handful of other owners to head out.

Fascist Fish 07-07-2013 08:23 PM

Possible, I have class till 330 in hillsboro. But I would go if there are others going.

Chen 07-07-2013 11:48 PM

DarrenDriven 07-08-2013 03:45 AM

Oops, missed it... well, if we get five others that will go, I am down. I just want there to be enough to make an impression when we are there.

A few people on here said they'll go and a few people from my Facebook event that I made said they will go so if everyone shows that said they would we will have more than 5. Should have closer to 10 but not sure if everyone can meet at the same time to roll in together as traffic usually sucks ass on I-5. If you're coming from the east side I'd recommend taking 122nd up to Marine drive as it goes all the way to the track if you go around Delta Park.

JonnyRocket 07-08-2013 08:43 PM

I should be able to do the 17th.

stockysnail 07-11-2013 12:07 AM

Only a week away. Don't miss it!

Pdxc43 07-12-2013 09:05 PM

count me in! I go every week to the Beaches Cruise in at PIR, it would be nice to park on the inside for once :)

about 5 years ago they let anyone in, but they started restricting it to old cars and fancy American cars, except on the rare occasion when they have import nights. I went last year when I had my VW R32. With all the BRZs and FR-Ss that are coming we will make a big splash. Those American muscle lovers will be swarming around our shit like.... flies on shit?

stockysnail 07-15-2013 03:19 AM

If some of you have never been to PIR just go up to the main gain and tell them you're here for import night if they aren't smart enough to assume as much. Once inside someone will direct you to the import area. We should have a nice turnout of FR-S and BRZ based on people telling me that they will be there. Everyone will be coming in at random times because of when they get off work but we will all be there having drinks, watching drag races, and looking at all the sweet cars and motorcycles. It's supposed to be nice weather to so everyone come out for at least an hour or two to join in on the huge car show.

O'yeah I'm Nopocrakr, (Ian)

ilpad 07-15-2013 06:15 PM

I have cleared my evening calendar and will be showing up. Whats the plan/time/place for premeet?

I can potentially leave my office early as well, how early is up to my workload tho.

I can head east from hillsboro around 4pm i think.

tonyfrs86 07-15-2013 10:08 PM

what time is going off at? i live in seattle and work from 5am to 3pm..takes me abour 2 1/2 hour to get to vancouver where my dad lives so i can stop off, refuel and eat then head out. ill try to ask for the day off or the day after but it matters what the work load is for that day.

i believe thursday will be a busy day since i think were getting a food order in and i need to be there for that. ive been to PIR once before to drag my old EVO X MR. 14 flat was my fastest time. hopefully i can do better with my turbo FRS :)

:edit: my bad, i see it starts at 4pm and ends at sunset.

seven 07-15-2013 11:21 PM

Won't make the 17th.
Would consider coming down for the 9/4 one tho

BRZPDX 07-15-2013 11:39 PM

Ya come chill. Drive one of the other cars in your fleet. The c30 is a cool Volvo.

BRZPDX 07-16-2013 02:57 AM

I can't anyways with other plans. I'm gonna lay low and come out with a bang.

stockysnail 07-16-2013 06:29 PM

Tomorrow is the day! Some of you have mentioned you'll be there around 6ish because of traffic which is perfectly fine. Since I work sort of close (downtown), I should be there around 5pm and probably stay until 8pm, maybe longer as it goes until sunset. $10 per car is the cost I think. If you don't have cash on you there is an ATM there but avoid the ATM fees and bring cash.

See everyone tomorrow!

tonyfrs86 07-16-2013 09:40 PM

no chance in hell i can make it down. if i took off work the place would fall apart with the amount of crap we have planned to do this month. its funny since im owed some serious off time, but its never slow enough to cash in my free days. *sigh*
