are you willing to own a GTR

well a neighbor is loosing his house and he has a 09 GTR R35 18,854miles asked me if I want to take over the payment, he says it still have $72k+, don't know much about the guy I see him every now and then. as far as I know no mods was made and he drives a M5 for daily, according to him he rather keep the M5 more family friendly vs the GTR (true). I remember he told me back then he got it for $84k early 2009 i think, will you want one?

I'd love to own one, but after following Edmunds Inside Line when they had one in their long term fleet, it is looking more and more like an impossible thing until i win the Lottery. The maintenance on those are crazy expensive. But I still want one.

I had a deposit for a GTR at Power Nissan since they were the only SoCal shop that had the lowest markup on them. I never even got to see it b/c the more closer it got to the release date, the more I realized that I was literally giving the dealership an extra 10K and got my deposit back.

Sweet car if you could swing $1355/month w/out any problems. :burnrubber:

What i find weird is that even if this thing is costs around 80k, which is hardly affordable to the middle class market, I see GTRs everywhere. Just yesterday i spotted 5 in a span of 2 hours.

The GTR owners i met all pretty much say the same thing, that it was a great investment for a toy. So i guess if you could afford it, go for it.

Hm... I'm fan of R32 over R35. Yes, R35 is 5x faster than R32, but I just love the design of R32. So my answer is no. Also, R35 is having tranny problem often, so if you really want one, you should wait til Nissan fix that problem first.

only thing I can't believe is I'll be paying $1000+ a month :confused0068: the most I'll say I'm willing to pay monthly on a car is $700 thats pushing it. My wife told me if she gives me the rest of the money every month and if I get this I can't modify it :slap:, she likes the idea on the auto with a paddle shifter cuz she can't drive manual. But I'm in 30% get it vs 70% too much for you wait for the FT86 thats what you can afford :bellyroll:, I hate to think my wife will give me money for my hobby.

What is the issues with the tranny? Wait any longer and you might as well get the V-Spec! ;)

Didn't they fix the gtr launch control issues with a new ecu configuration? In best motoring the issues was the cooling of the brake :iono:

2010 GT-R, yes... but earlier ones, no. When you put when on the R mode, tranny can't handle the beating and result causing the gears to break. Also the tranny heating problem too. Most of the after market companies are now equipping their GT-R with Tranny cooler.

I think they are going to be a lot more than that. :confused0068:

Uh... ya... more than willing, I would say.

Ability is a whole other problem. I am currently unable to own a GTR b/c I'm poor.

I highly doubt it!

The sales numbers for the current GTR seemed to have dropped and esp with this weak economy, it wouldn't even make sense to bring it here.

Till this day, I have not seen a GTR on the road and I'm in San Diego! :iono:
