Any other car was a collaboration??

Random though pop in my head.

Just wondering have there ever been a car like the twins that is a collaboration between two or more companies, and BOTH of the company produced the same car.

I know there are many collaborations, one on top of my head was the Lotus that used a Celica engine from Toyota, but Toyota did't have that exact same car.

Soooo any?

Only one that pops into my head is the Saabaru.

...still not quite a collab

The Eclipse and the Talon. The Firebird and Trans Am.

technically, lotus uses a Yamaha engine, just as the celica did;) there is another collaboration for you...

Luis_GT 07-02-2013 12:35 AM

The Taurus SHO, which housed a Yamaha engine

collaboration between tesla and incumbents?

Luis_GT 07-02-2013 12:39 AM

Aston Martin and Ford... for those that remember the DB7 had cheap ford window buttons...

supra2nv 07-02-2013 12:40 AM

lotus elan had an Isuzu engine in it...lotus and Isuzu have had some history I know, the impulse was "lotus tuned suspension" I remember as well..

Luis_GT 07-02-2013 12:43 AM

Oh God... I forgot just how ugly the DB7 interior was... that dash screams ford design...

Thank God Aston Martin is by itself again...

Don't use sharing parts as an example of a "collaboration", that's something that happens across way more cars than you'd believe.

I get what the original post is talking about - there's a few examples around, not so many these days as there were back in the 80s and 90s when there was a lot more of this stuff going around. Ford & Mazda had this kind of arrangement, but now it seems to have dialled back to the Mazda BT-50/Ford Ranger (the Ranger isn't sold in the US or Canada.)

Right. My speed6 had FoMoCo stamped on the brakes along with various other parts. Happens a whole lot. Real collaborations are much less common.

We could also say that badge engineered doesn't count either... like the Talon and Eclipse.

Yes, seems like people almost started to drift away from my original question.
