Are these the only 2014 features?

Anyone notice this yet?Attachment 42689
Says 2014 features are knee pads a radio and revised badging. I wonder if there are more. |
what is revised badging
|
Hmm I doubt it. They already corrected the mechanical errors like chirping and tail light condensation if I'm right. These features will carry over to the 2014 model. However.. I am curious to find out what "revised badging" is, and also if 2013 BRZ models can somehow get Aha features...
|
The new standard radio for Scion comes with Aha, wonder if its the same one. Would like some kneepads though.

I am interested in seeing the revised badging, whatever that means |
Subaru uses the same radio head unit across many of their cars (i.e. the one in the BRZ). Engadget was already shown a working version of AHA radio on a 2013 BRZ head unit, so I assume the 14 model is the same unit with the software update. I would also assume 13 BRZ owners will be eligible to get AHA, but not sure if we have to pay.
My bet is that rebadging is Subaru getting rid of Subaru lettering across the back of the car. |
I got the magazine but no idea what those mean except for the knee pads.
|
Perhaps for the door there will be knee pads, I can email district if you want.
|
Sick!! That will be so cool if they get the JDM knee pads!
|
I bet the badging change is on the front fenders where Toyota has the "86" badge while Subaru has that little chrome-y thing.
Or it's something dumb like font, color or size. |
Rebadging is just to get rid of "SUBARU" lettering badge. JDM (and I believe EDM) cars do not have that badge anyway.
|
If they were smart they would make them stickers. That would prolly save them loads in production costs. My badges were thrown at my Finance Mgr when I was doing my paperwork.
|
Let's face it. We should all know better than that. Changes are continuous in the auto industry.

I presume the "knee pads" are simply more of the stitched leather down the side of the center console or on the door.
The very next page of the Subaru magazine has a feature on Aha, and it shows the same headunit the BRZ features with just an Aha tab added to the list on the left. I too presume this could easily be done with a software upgrade. I have no problem with the current badging and probably will have no problem with the new badging. It's just badging. |
revised badging....FML!
|
Can somebody please kill all these threads?
|
I'm pretty sure they are the JDM knee pads. What else would they be describing? Why would they go out of their way to make something different?
What they are listing here are feature changes/additions of parts that are already available in other markets. What they aren't listing is the official changes that Subaru of Japan might make to the next model year. |
My wife just got the new 2014 limited Forester and it has our same stock nav unit but with the AHA features. It's a different model # I believe. Looks a little smoother too.

I believe the knee pad they are talking about is the one on the side of the center console that you rest your knee on when you're driving. It should be a plug and play feature or possibly an easy fabrication of one from your local fabric store. What they really needed for 2014 is just an armrest.
|
Armrest, seat belt guide replacement, better HU, plus torque hole fix and an acoustical retune for a sweeter cockpit sound, and they are there.
|
I hope there's a thread somewhere that compiles the yearly changes, once the new MY's come out

Anyone else notice that the steering wheel in this video has cruise AND RADIO controls built in???

Anyone else notice that the video is 18 months old? It's been well documented that some pre-production models had the steering wheel controls, but they were removed for the production models. It's neat to see them, but don't get your hopes up that the MY14 will have them, because the car in the video is older than ours. |
