Xbox360 forced patch...

So, i decide i want to watch some Netflix on my xbox360 but when i click on the icon i am forced to accept a update. Once the update is done i get a pop up window that states i now have to have a gold membership to access my netflix app to watch movies. Eff you microsoft, thats the last straw, your current and future consoles are dead to me. I dont care what the reasoning is, that $hit is the last nail in their coffin.

PS4 looks like a better choice. Xbox is digging their own grave.

Lol one more reason why I hate xbox

Is this the first time you've used Netflix on your 360? The update was for the Netflix app, most likely, and not to the console itself. Netflix has always required Gold, with the exception of a weekend they unlocked it for everyone.

Sucks, but that's how it is.

^ Last time I was able to use Netflix without Gold was...probably 2 years ago? This isn't a new thing AFAIK. Hell I may have even had Gold at the time too, just don't remember.

Disclaimer: not trying to get into a console war here...I actually own a PS, PS2, PS3, Xbox, XB360, Wii.

But, I turned on my PS3 last night to get back into Last of Us and was faced with both a system patch, and a game patch. It took literally 10 minutes before I could get to my game and start playing. I can objectively state that the Xbox updates it's system and the game patches much more quickly and user friendly than the PS3. I like to think that my Gold subscription helps this in some way.

As for having to have a Gold subscription to use Netflix/Amazon instant video...yeah that sucks.

Yeah, nothing new there.

I guess if you have a laptop you could connect it with the TV to watch Netflix as an alternative.

Feels like every time I use my PS3, it needs some kind of update that takes half an hour to download AND install. System, store, individual games, it's like a new update is out every week... And all of them take forever to get. Most commonly, after about 15 minutes of the progress bar stuck at 60%, I just cancel, turn it off, and game on 360 instead. Even if there is an update, it will usually grab it and get me to my game in under 30 seconds. The updates on PS3 are absolutely ridiculous.

.... until PS4 release :bonk::bonk:

and i actually really enjoyed the original Xbox and the Xbox360, but PS4 sounds so much more appealing.

but to the topic: Netflix always required XBL Gold

I also got the same update but it only took me a couple minutes. Previous updates sometimes drag like a virtual boat anchor. 360 updates do seem to happen quicker, but seem more frequent... Hopefully the new PS+ subscriptions will help provide better PSN infrastructure.
