throttle dip?
 

I have sort of dumb question. I have been driving MT cars for the past 10years and I ended up getting my FRS with AT(don't judge me lol) but anyways I have noticed that whenever I really jump on the throttle from a standstill that the RPM dips for a split second then takes off. It feels like it has no power at first and the tires barely even chirp(evenin sport mode with assists disabled.. Could this be the same issue that is fixed with the ECU reflash? Or is this normal for an automatic? Even in neutral/park when I rev I see the rpm dip before revving.

There does seem to be a momentary lag.

Yes, MT. There is a tiny hesitation. And at other times, I don't get a linear development of power. Sometimes it seems to slightly dip or hesitate.

Typical with dbw throttle body cars. Probably seems worse with the at?

Yea thats what I was thinking. Does the ecu reflash make it a little better?

I personally can't say. I'm thinking that even if pedal response wasn't adjusted, a good reflash helping get rid of the "torque dip" would make a big improvement. I wonder if you just happen to be in the low torque band of rpm when this hesitation seems the worst.

Maybe someone with a reflash can chime in.

I think they also make electronic pedal controllers which are suppose to help, again I've never used one.

also noticed this, when mashing the throttle RPMs drop below idle and make the car shudder before spiking up. Learned to ease into it slightly to avoid this when wanting to floor it

after my reflash this past saturday... i noticed this issue.. it doesnt happen every day and i even brought the car back to the dealer service shop and of course.. what do u know.. the problem doesnt happen!

good thing was i took a video and emailed it to my service advisor but it didnt do any good. :(

I've noticed this a few times with my MT, but usually only when the engine is cold. I always just assumed it was related to the engine warming up.

If you have any HVAC on. it'll raise your idle abit to power it.. Its normal.. I see it mine

That might be the idle hunting issue, I want to say bad cam sensor? Not sure haven't read through the idle drop thread in a long long time. It couldn't hurt to skim that. (It's a sticky)

Mine idle dips every now and then. I figure if I end up getting a CEL and have to take it in, then my paranoia about a first model year car and buying the extended warranty was justified.
