should i upgrade axles?

as most ppl know who frequent the fi section im getting a built motor put in.
should i go ahead and upgrade my axles to the dss 600hp ones or keep stock ones for now until i can upgrade drive shaft as well? Is there any point in upgrading one and not the other? I have a feeling if i do the axles then drive shaft will give. either way they will both be upgraded just tryn to decide if i should do axles now ir wait and do both at same time.

Im going to have about 500whp

Axles before driveshaft.

Axles, driveshaft and diff......stand bye for the transmission,...go easy on it.

FBM 8.8 rear end swap. Will never have to worry about rear end or driveshaft again.

500hp and the axles are rated at 600hp... seems like you just answered your own question... more power = upgrades.. also you need to upgrade you clutch

Clutch is a given,...Learn from others and upgrade now if you have the cash,..less you get stranded on the side of the road. Crawford has broken a few OEM cv joints and Don at accelerated two trannies,...don't doubt the oem diff if not upgraded will show its weakness eventually with major power upgrades. Yes this all gets expensive. The axles from DSS dwarf the oem axles ,..and I'm very please with their driveshaft.

i have fx400 clutch already. fbm never did release a price for the 8.8 rear end that i seen anyway. i can get the axles from mvp for 750 shipped i just need to send the money. prolly end up getting a custom driveshaft made from a shop back home that i have used before for around $500-600. Turn around time is about a week. as far as transmission goes not sure about that. i wish it would go then i would have an excuse to give the wife so i can cram something else in it.

Im not worried about the money part if i was i wouldnt have thrown a turbo on it. ive already spent almost what the car cost new in upgrades and new motor so im not skerd lol. What i am worried about is axles or drive shaft failing and messing underside
all up.

marky i know i need to upgrade the axles. just asking if i should do axles and driveshaft at same time

I'm stoked to see this build completed!! It's gonna be a beast!! I have to know...how deep are you in at this point? Motor, TC kit + accessories like injectors and fuel pump, axles, driveshaft, rear end, and soon the trans? This is turning into a 20k build quickly!!

I only ask because I'm shooting for closer to 300-320 HP on 93 and I'm sure I need a clutch, injectors, fuel pump, but I'm wondering how much further I go before snapping axles and driveshafts and rear ends.

Hope all is going well!! You're in good hands w Tony!

My business partner had a 96 Supra that was fully built and putting down close to 700 HP and even though he broke nearly every part possible along the journey, the trans held solid.

I haven't looked into pricing on one but are they currently in use on any production models? Or are you limited to buying used and rebuilding? Any other 6 speed trans that are current AND can hold up to some serious abuse??

yeah do both..stock wont last long when you double the power ... they have carbon shaft also not sure if that will be a good move on 500hp.. i would go it with more metal/aluminum shaft..im pretty sure they have carbon shaft that rates at higher hp..

cant wait to see your power beast light weight 86:party0030:
