Finally got over to the (100F) track [w vids]
It was 38 degrees (101 farenheit) here in Dubai this evening but who can pass up a free trackday at the Dubai Autodrome? I've been wanting to track my car for about a year now but never seemed to get around to it.
I was curious how the 86 would stack up. Would it overheat? Suffer from brake fade? Be very sensitive to tire pressures? Want to kill me? There was also the possible issue of the nut behind the wheel being a little rusty... should have logged coolant and oil temps. cool videos for sure night driving looked intense. what is it during the day 120?

That track is so beautiful.

awesome track, awesome video!
what setup for the record / edit? |
Video & overlays were done using Harry's Lap Timer Pro for iOS and a cheap Nokia suction mount. :)
Temps: 100 at night and easily 110 during the day. Wish I had a setup to log oil & water temps but I didn't notice any bad behaviour from the car on the day - no noticeable loss of power, no real brake fade (pads or fluid), consistent handling all 3 sessions. I wasn't babying it out there so I'm really impressed with how this car handles track duty. You'll see me passing a few faster cars who had to slow down for various reasons. Makes me think that stuff like oil coolers and BBKs aren't absolutely neccessary to track this car after all. Overall - our cars are definitely 'real deal' sports cars. :) |
Update - seems I didn't get off totally scott free.
Brake pads are squealing like pigs today! :P |
